Hello,

I am having a problem with the clock on my Google Nest Hub. I have 4 of them at home and just overnight, the timezone change to California timezone instead of Central. How can I change it back? I have been looking online and tried every steps, but nothing works. Can you help?

Hi Estravada,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. A few things: when did the issue start? Were there any changes made before the issue started? When you ask your Nest devices the time using voice commands, are you getting the same result? What steps have you taken so far?

When you ask for local places, weather and time information, your home address is used as the default location unless you specify another place, weather or time. Check if the address is updated by following the steps below.

Change the home address of your devices

  1. Open the Google Home app .
  2. At the top, make sure your home name is listed. If needed, tap the name to change the selected home.
  3. Tap Settings and then Home information and then Home address.
  4. Tap Edit and then Enter your address and then Next.
  5. Drag the map so the pin is on your home, then tap Done.

Note: When you change the home address, it only affects the devices in the home you selected. You can edit or delete this address anytime.

Check this link for more information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Juni

Hello there,

It's me again. I want to make sure you're all good — how did the steps go?

Hi there.

It happened overnight without anyone changing on the settings. Tried all the steps, but it remained the same.

Somehow, the clock went back to normal the next day for an hour, then it switches back to California time again after that. Since then, it will show timezone according to its preference. An hour of one timezone and another with another timezone.

Despite using the app to connect 4 devices, two will show one timezone and two showing another

Hi folks,

@Juni, thanks for the help.

@Estravada, thanks for the cooperation. Let's go ahead and try the steps below in changing or editing your home and work locations:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Nest speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  5. Tap Assistant settings > Your places.
  6. To edit a home or work address, tap the current address > enter a new address > Ok.
  7. To remove a home or work address, tap Remove next to the address.

By the way, does all 4 of your Nest devices show different, incorrect time zones or only two?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Dan

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Hi Dan,

Two were showing different time zone and two were correct. Before I managed to try those new steps, they went back to normal. Not sure what change

Hi Estravada,

Apologies for the delayed response. To isolate further, let’s factory reset one of your Nest Hub to see if the issue is device specific. Here’s how to do the reset for both Nest Hub or Nest Hub 2nd Gen and your Nest Hub Max, depending on what you choose:

Nest Hub

  1. On the back of Nest Hub, find the volume bar.
  2. Press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds.
  3. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it's resetting.
  4. Once done, proceed with the set up.

Nest Hub Max

  1. Save any important footage from your device's video history.
  2. Remove your Nest Hub Max from the Google Home app

    .
  3. On the back of Nest Hub Max, press and hold both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub Max will let you know that it's resetting.

If the issue is resolved after the reset, follow through with the other 3 Nest devices.

Keep me posted.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi there. I did not take those steps as they went back to normal. Do not want to mess it further, but if that happens again, I will try them out
