Google Nest Hub music command issues

Awiles

I used to use the google home mini with no issues, now I’ve upgraded to the nest hub, and when I ask it “play rain sounds for X hours” it will play for ever until I ask it to stop. However now only in the last couple of days, it stops after an hour even if I say to play it for 8 hours.

Hey Awiles,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues playing relaxing music on your Google Nest Hub. A few questions: which Nest Hub do you have (1st, 2nd gen, or Nest Hub Max)? Does the same issue happen on your Home Mini? Does the same thing happen when playing music from YouTube Music or Spotify? What happens when you don't include a time or hours on how long it will play?

Let's go ahead and refresh the connection of your device. Please reboot your Google Nest Hub by disconnecting it from the power source and leave it unplugged for 1 minute. Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Muddi,

This is the 2nd generation.  This issue does not happen on the home mini.

When I play music from Spotify, it plays until I tell it to stop, because I’m not using Spotify as my nighttime rain sounds so this is not an issue. I haven’t asked it to play Spotify only for a few hours.

If I don’t include a time, it plays indefinitely as I’ve said. Well over 12 hours. If I include a time, it doesn’t listen and just keeps playing.

I have rebooted as you’ve suggested. This has not resolved the issue by the looks of it. But I will keep an eye on it.

HI Awiles,

Thanks for the update. If rebooting your device do not fix the issue, please proceed resetting your device by pressing and holding both volume buttons together, at the back of the Nest Hub, for about 10 seconds. You'll hear your Google Assistant confirm that it's resetting the Nest Hub (2nd gen).

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi
