Google Nest Hub not showing wifi in list to connect

The Google Nest Hub was bought in Australia and connected with my phone (Google Home app), when I arrived back in South Africa we connected it to my home wifi and it worked. Then we had load shedding and now it cannot connect to my wifi again. We did a factory reset but still it does not show my home wifi in the list to connect to. My phone and tablet are both connected to my home wifi and we are totally out of ideas on how to connect my Google Nest Hub to my home wifi. Can anyone shed some light on this issue please?

Hi Yoda007,

Since Google Home isn't officially launched in South Africa, some features may or may not work. You might encounter some issues while setting this up. That said, this is not the experience we wanted you to have since it has worked before the load shedding.

A few things: how far is your Nest Hub from your router? When you mentioned a factory reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

To eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home/Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hey there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

Hi Dan,

Thank you for the suggestions. I think there is something weird with the modem/router. Every time after the power outages we have to manually add device and when the list of wifi devices appear, our modem is not in the list so we need to reset the modem then it connects.
Thanks and kind regards,

Yolanda

Hello Yoda007,

I appreciate the detailed information. I highly suggest getting in touch with your ISP's modem-router combo so they can help you configure your router settings. In that way, if a power outage happens again, your devices will have no issues finding your WiFi network once the modem-router is powered on.

Fill me in if you have further concerns.

Best,
Lovely
