Google Nest Hub stuck in g recovery mode not resolving issue

My Google Nest 1st gen is no longer working (stuck in g). Factory reset not working or any other work around, very frustrating 😞

Hi Peboylan,

 

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.

 

This is not the experience that we wanted you to have, let me help you out. Are you still using the original power cord? If you already tried plugging your device to another working power outlet try putting it into recovery mode. Check the steps below for guidance.

 

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2. Hold down the volume buttons and plug in the power cord at the same time.
  3. Wait for the device to turn on.
  4. Release the volume buttons.
  5. Once the device is in recovery mode, attempt an FDR.

Hi there, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  I didn't notice your contacts until  this evening. I have tried Juni's advice a number of times but unfortunately it does not work. When I hold both volume buttons to reset the device in recovery mode and the 10 second factory reset is complete, the G logo appears and I constantly return to recovery mode? Any advice please? Thanks and apologies for the delayed reply.

Hi Alex, I got my Google Hub from Vodafone. It would have been  2-3 years ago. I used the hub sporadically over that period and it was only in the last few weeks when I installed the Google Hello doorbell that I had the device on regularly.
