Google Nest Hub won't display Arlo Pro 2 Camera

When I ask my Google Nest Hub to show this camera, it does not show the camera and I get the following text on the Hub:

<Error>
<Code>   </Code>
<Message> </Message>
<RequestId>  </Request Id>
<HostId>  </HostId>
</Error>

The firmware on the camera is up to date.  I factory reset the hub.  I can view the camera using the iphone Google Home app.

This used to work.  What happened?

Hello maudieinto,

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how important it is for you to be able to stream your Arlo camera on the Google Nest Hub. Let's get this sorted out.

A few questions:

  • When did the issue start?
  • Which specific Nest Hub do you have (1st, 2nd generation, Hub Max)?
  • What is the current firmware version of your Nest display?

Let's go ahead and unlink and re-link your Arlo account from the Google Home app. Once done, check if you'll have the same issues when streaming the camera to your Nest Hub.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

I linked and re-linked the Arlo account from Google Home app. Same error message.

I don't use this feature much.  I recall it working several months ago. Then, I started getting the error message a few days ago.

The Nest Hub is 1st generation I believe (model H1A).

Fuchsia Version 14.202308.31.67

Software Version 54.103.7.577294944

Chromecast firmware 3.71.387262

Hey folks,

Thanks for the information. Have you tried calling Arlo to check if they are getting similar reports? Also, could you tell us the specific model of your Arlo camera?

Cheers,

Muddi

My camera is a Pro 2.

I've posted to the Arlo Community page. No replies. Arlo charges me for support calls so I can't/won't  contact them directly. They usually have some one monitoring the Community site. I was hoping some one at G would have contact with them.

Hi maudieinto,

Thanks for the information. Just an added question: do you have other cameras that can be streamed on the Nest Hub? Please try the steps below:

  1. Unlink your Arlo account from the Google Home app.
  2. Reset your Nest display and Arlo camera.
  3. Set up your camera in the Arlo app, and make sure that you can stream it from the native app.
  4. Set up your Nest display in a different home structure.
  5. Re-link your Arlo camera, then assign it to the new home structure where your Nest display is located. Once done, try streaming your camera on the Nest Hub.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Yes. Same error messages on Nest display when attempting to view other cameras. Can view all cameras properly using IOS Google Home app on iPhone.

We can do these incremental steps in my setup all you want, but the fact is, the cameras were displaying properly a few month ago, now they’re not, and nothing changed in my setup (other than probably a G Nest firmware update). That argues for a change made in the firmware that doesn’t support the cameras any more.

Do the described error messages mean anything to the firmware folks at G Nest?

Yep, I’ve tried the same steps and it still won’t work. Works ok on the Google Home iPhone app but not on the Nest.
