Google Nest Mini 2: Device still unselectable after successful Bluetooth connection to PC(Win11)

I'll start by saying so far the speaker works fine through the app, it will connect to other phones without issue and I can see what's playing in the app. Even adding the device through Windows Bluetooth menu gives a successfully connected with the correct name. (See Screenshot)

However this is where my issue starts. Unlike any other BT Speaker it doesn't show in the sound setting to set it as the device I'd like audio to play from. I use an audio program to direct audio called SteelSeries Engine/Sonar and it doesn't show their either.

I've done everything listed in this topic,

Including,
Double checked in Device Manager that it was indeed categorized as a BT and sound device,

It does not show in Audio Inputs

I've factory reset the speaker as well as tried updating my motherboard/BT.
Nothing works yet it does, technically just not on PC.

Hi PieWasHere,

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry to hear that your Google Nest Mini Speaker is unselectable after a successful Bluetooth connection to your PC. Let's work together for a solution.

For your concern, please try the below steps:

  1. Unpair the Bluetooth speaker or headphones.

    • Open the Google Home app.

    • Tap Favorites or Devices

    • Tap the preferred device to unpair.

    • At the top-right, tap Settings > Audio > Paired Bluetooth devices.

    • Tap the next to the preferred device to unpair > Unpair.

  2. Reconnect the Bluetooth speaker or headphones.

    • Turn on the Bluetooth device and make sure it’s in pairing mode. Customers may need to press the pairing button on the Bluetooth device if the device has a dedicated pairing button.

    • Open the Google Home app.

    • Tap Favorites or Devices

    • Select the speaker or display.

    • • At the top-right, tap Settings > Audio > Default music speaker.

    • Tap Pair Bluetooth speaker. The speaker or display scans for Bluetooth devices.

    • Tap the device once it appears on the screen. The Bluetooth device pairs with the speaker or display.

    • Tap Done.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin

Hi, I tired this before I factory reset my Nest mini and again after it still didn't play audio once connected to Bluetooth.

I've tried connecting it manually though Windows, though asking Google to enable parring mode, and I've tried directly through the app as you mentioned. It successfully connects to Bluetooth, even auto connecting when my PC turns on, however "Nest Mini" still doesn't appear as a device I can play sound from.

I'm trying to connect my Nest Mini to my PC via Bluetooth which works, the app says it's connected as well however my PC doesn't recognize it as a "Speaker" and therefore cannot play audio. I think the PC is automatically applying a generic "Bluetooth Device" as the type of device  the Nest is, like a wireless mouse, instead of a "Bluetooth Speaker".
