The last 3 weeks my Nest Mini 2 have lost WiFi connection once a week, I need to reset to factory settings, remove it from my Google Home, and connect it again. then it works a week again. I have 2 more nest mini 2, in my house the are working without problems. I am also using Google WiFi, so there is perfect WiFi in the house. The only thing is one of the nest minis, it have been working for a long time, without any problems, this issue started 3 weeks ago.

Update:

my reseller, www.bit-electronix.eu, sent me a replacement Nest Mini so since a couple of days I am running 2 Nest Minis. The new replacement Nest Mini runs fine ever since I set it up 5 days ago.

The faulty Nest Mini keeps loosing its configuration .

I noticed the manufacturing dates on the covers:

faulty Nest Mini 10/2019

robust Nest Mini 11/2019. Maybe that's a trace to look at ?

Year I notice that to. It disconnect about the same time, every time 🙂 ! Almost like a Swiss watch

My Google Nest mini keeps dropping during use. No message saying can't connect to wifi, it just drops. Nothing works. Not resetting it or router and not moving it closer to the router. Google Home is fine. I'm fed up, think all that's left is to return it.

I have did some testing. Appear Google Home nest or mini connected with 5 GHz keep hitting wifi disconnect problems, and I had to reboot my router everyday because of Google home problems.

Then I changed to 2.4 GHz and it appear to be more stable. Do you guys want to test it out too and share with me your results?

I've had 5 nest mini and a hub max for about a year, only soultion is to unplug replug all devices and restart phone.   Expected more from Google, lost trust in the quality of their products

Hey Google, take your responsibility and fix that problem. Seriously, is there anyone at Google using a Nest Mini? Why aren’t you more vocal about this? It’s been a long time people are complaining, and seriously, as many other, I lost confidence into your products, and above all else, your support toward your customers.

Hi,

I’m having the same issue. Google mini disconnects on daily basis. Reset and restarting router doesn’t help. Device is 2 meters away from AP. Any solution?

I have EXACTLY the same problem and have tried everything mentioned in the threads below. I have 6 nest minis (two are v2), 5 nest hubs, 6 nest audios, 1 max hub, 1 nest battery doorbell, 1 nest classic doorbell, 1 nest indoor camera, 1 Yale lock, and 100 wireless devices on an Asus Aimesh network comprising 1 GT5300 and 4 Blue Cave nodes. Thing is rock solid. But one nest mini 2 loses connection every few days and needs to be unplugged to rejoin. I've changed locations, factory reset, deleted and re-added, etc. Been at this for a year. Ready to toss it out.

Have you followd my advice and removed the WiFi connection ?! After and/or before a factory reset ?!

Wipe your WiFi in the Google home app before and after the factory reset of your mini

Same Problem here since I upgraded my Wifi from 2.4 to dual 2.4/5.0
Happens with old GHM and new GNM.

48 hours later: switched off 5GHz, leaving only 2.4 - everything seems to work now.

When are Google going to issue an update to fix this issue? Otherwise why not just recall them and send out replacements if they have fixed the problem on new versions?

I think those things are good and it is because of weak WiFi. I think if you wipe the WiFi then fabric reset the nest  and then wipe WiFi ones more, WIPE THE WIFI IN THE GOOGLE HOME APP ON YOUR PHONE APP !!!!!!!! and then reconnect to your 2GH connection, it will be fine.

for me that dit the trick big time super so.

Sorry but no.

Signal strength was 100%. Tried factory reset several times to no effect.

It obviously is an issue with 5GHz.

You do a factory reset BUT you don’t name the most important thing to do ?!

you must wipe your WiFi in the Google home app 2 times, before and after the reset !

it is working for me for 6 months now

I was having so much problems that it drive me crazy UNTIL I made those moves.

try it, for me it was like magic

Wipe? 2 times?

Year the WiFi in the Google home app, on your phone ! Before the nest factory reset and after ! En then conect back to the 2.4 ghz

I created a dedicated WiFi access point for the Google Nest that only accepts 2.4 GHz connections with a specific SSID.

All my other WiFi devices are connected via a Mesh WiFi routers of Fritzbox that accepts both 2.4 GHz and 5ghz connections that share same SSID. To my surprise the Google Nest Mini keeps its connection now much better.

This makes clear that there is really something wrong with this device with how it (not) operates in mesh networks with shared frequency bands. All other 30+ devices of other brands can handle this without issue. But it doesn’t make sense at all to create dedicated access points for connecting a smart device. That actually makes the device very stupid.

Come on Google come up with a response. This really sucks and you do not take any responsibility for your customer problems at all.

I second that. Behaviour in my mesh network is exactly the same.

yea same here. All of my mini devices disconnect at the same time when using the mesh network but the one I put on the 2.4 GHz only network doesn't have the issue...but I can't cast to this device since it is a different ssid.  These devices worked fine for years before we recently put in the mesh network.

Seems like a software update to allow the disabling of the 5ghz antenna could fix the problem.

I have an Asus AIMesh 2 Network with 5 nodes and 130+ devices connected. I have several of every product Google/nest sell plus many other products. The mini 2 is the only device that keeps falling off. My other mini 2 is rock solid. I haven't generated a dedicated 2.4ghz network to see if the solution you found works for me. I have done several factory resets, tried the device in several places including swapping positions with the other mini 2 that works properly. Nothjing helps. I get 3 to 5 days of use then BAMN! it needs to be reconnected to the network.

I missed the delivery today ... dpd took a picture of the hedge ( yeh the hedge!) Told me i missed it ... after telling them to leave it in the open shed

Anyway .. should have the new nest Wednesday 9th .. will report back

These items should be plug and play .. I get the feeling that all of us on the forum have more than average IQ to even bother trying to work out what is wrong ... we should not be rigging up 2.4 networks and line of site wifi ... restarting and resetting every day hour or minute .... ... sorry ranting again

Will report back to see if the new one works!

My mini was not even 2 meters away and was disconnecting every day. Moved to 10 cm from Router and now it does disconnect every 3 days. Let’s be serious, Google just puts a very chip antennas and doesn’t want to replace them. Alexa works much better and it’s even better without any smart - spy device at home 😉

Have 3 google home minis... all great ... one new nest mini ... disconnects and goes dormant every few minutes. Some times it bothers to tell you it lost the connection ... just stops

Reset .. sat in next to the router

What is the solution

The solutions are not new routers, resetting , turning it off and on

I may just microwave it!

I too have the same problem. I even bought a brand new nest about 2-3 weeks ago. It still cuts out. What is the solution? Will Google give me my money back? Clearly the device doesn’t work. I’m using the Google wifi as well. It’s utter garbage

Spoke to google via the support chat and after a few tests ( setting up a phone hotspot and connecting to a different network to take my home router out of the equation) it was decided it was a nest mini problem ... now have an address to send it back and get a new one by return post

5-############2450 this was my case number .. feel free to quote it

I had disconnects every few minutes and it "performed" like a dream.. cutting off after about 2 minutes while on the chat ... its fate was sealed ... but i was liiking forward to doing it for 2 minutes in the microvave

Good luck

Don't forget to let us know ow if the new ones work better.

Ok ... new Nest Mini delivered... set up.. away from my router .. found it played music.. told a story, sang a song .. all good

Unplugged it ... moved it to the kitchen ... into a zone where the WiFi runs thru a "BT disc" .. extender .... now an hour in ... no disconnects.. all is going well. Before i never got more than 5 minutes before the old narcaleptic google just snoozed into oblivion

I will repost if there are any problems.

Side note .. the firmware is a later version than the nest I sent back

Here it is February 2022 and no solution to this issue.

I purchased a mini nest 2 a few months ago.  Worked fine till last week. Then started this problem.  Now I get"I can't reach the internet connection right now. Please check your modem and router connection and try again".  Every day. Reset speaker. It works. Then it stops.

This is exacly what i got ... connected forba few minutes .. then dropped the connection to the router .. mostly just goes dormant .. not responding to the "Hey Google" .. or even "hey google ... you piece of ... " yes infuriating

I went on the online chat anf they instructed me to set up a hotspot on my phone( my current phone ) then with an old phone, connect to the hotspot and add the nest mini .. so not on your home router network ... but to the hotspot... this took a little time as you need to reset it etc. But on the call/chat i satisfied the chap  in the philpeens that it was the nest at fault .. not the home network ... he passed it to his supervisor for authorisation ... got a returns lable .. sent it back and a new one should be with me in 5 to 10 days

It took about an hour of google support chat

Have fun

Having the same issue on my google nest mini

**bleep**, I though I was the only one with this problem with my nest mini speakers and that it had to be my wifi or something. Then I bought a second one and the exact same thing happened. Speaker does not respond anymore, sometimes cutting the power helps but sometimes I need to do a factory reset before it works again.

This has been going on for 2 years? wow, shame on you Google.

Chat with the support desk ... I got my faulty one replaced .. .see below in the forum... do not get put of .. push for a replacement

I have 6 across 2 generations of hardware exhibiting this problem. Do the newer devices really not have the problem?
