Google Nest Mini Cannot Tell Me the Time of Day OR the Weather!

I have 4 Google Nest Mini speakers in my house and recently all 4 of them lost the ability to tell me the time of day or the weather. They all used to function normally until about 2 months ago. I'm guessing an update was pushed out and broke the functionality to my devices?

When I say the command "What time is it", it now replies "According to Wikipedia, Time is the continued sequence of existence and events that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, into the future."

When I say the command "What's the weather", it now replies "Sorry, I don't understand".

What's even crazier is that these same commands are saved in some routines and still function normally!

I've done a hard reset on one of my mini speakers and the problem still exists. It's driving me insane. 

Is there anything I can do to get these speakers to once again deliver the most basic of tasks and tell me the time or weather via a voice command?

I'm having the same issue. Contacted support and they were unable to help. They said it must be an issue with my personal Google account but clearly that is not the case, since other people are having the same problems. Please fix this ASAP, it is truly ruining the experience and rendering my once-handy devices virtually unusable.

Do you feel like a setting in my personal account could be triggering this behavior in the code? Maybe mentioning that I do not share my location with Google could be useful? Also, it seems like I've identified another variation in this defect. I have 2 older Google Minis and 2 newer Nest Minis. While all 4 can no longer provide information on the weather, it seems my Nest Minis can sometimes provide the time of day. The Google Minis are never able to provide the time of day. Not sure if that helps or not...

I'm having this exact same issue on my 2 Nest Minis and Nest Hub. This has been going on for about the same length of time that italiandue3 mentioned. I performed a factory reset on the Nest Hub, and that didn't fix it. I have my address specified for  my account and in the Home app, so that isn't the issue.

I can confirm that both issues are still happening. It seems that it now responds "Sorry, I don't understand" when asked what time it is or what's the weather. So, the response is new for asking the time, but it still does not provide the correct answers. 

Can you please report any progress you've made? Is there anything I can do to assist in the testing process?

Does the query "where are we?" returns you the correct location?

It does return my correct address when asked "where are we". Happy to run more tests on my side if it helps you isolate the root cause...

I would like to add that asking my device "where are we" returns my correct address. However, it still cannot answer "What's the weather" or "What time is it".

Mine also returns the correct address to the "where are we"? command but I've also had this issue with the time and the weather for a while now. I have a Google home mini gen 1. This is so annoying and I'm hoping a fix is found soon!

Interesting follow up I have another Google account that I don't normally use and so is fairly "clean" and I added the speaker to a home linked to that account and weather and time requests now work fine. It's gotta be a setting or configuration in the account specifically that triggers the behavior. Hopefully this is helpful.

I turned my location history off on Google a while ago. Wondering if some setting like that is somehow messing it up... Gonna have to experiment with the settings to see if that changes anything. Mini 2 tells time. Both Mini 1 & 2 fail the weather question...

All of my nest/home devices are doing this safe behavior.  Asking for time gives the wiki definition, weather is I don't know, asking where am I returns the correct address, but asking what's my address returners "I don't know but I'll remember if you tell me." Asking it to save address says it has saved it and will use it for customized results, but then if I ask immediately for my address it says it doesn't know it but we'll remember if I tell it.  If I check my assistant settings the address is listed.

Ok, I'm shocked to report that all of my devices can now tell me the time and weather. I'm not sure who fixed the code or when they implemented it...but it works right now! I hope it continues to work in the future... 

I would really love to hear what the root cause of this issue was and also how it was resolved.

Thanks to any programmers at Google that actually fixed this.

I can confirm that my Nest Hub and Google Mini devices are now correctly reporting the weather and time. I'd also like to know the root cause of this issue.
