Google Nest Mini error connecting to cloud

Richdem
Community Member

I have added a Google Nest Mini speaker to my home, I already have 2 older Google mini’s and 2 displays and several chromecast’s. I have a home group speaker setup. I tried to add the new Nest Mini but every time I try and save I get an error saying problem connecting to cloud please try again later.
I’ve reset the thing multiple times but nothing has worked. I just want to add my new Nest Mini to my existing speaker group.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

This is so frustrating,

I have spent the last 2 hours trying different devices to setup this **bleep** thing up. I just found out that I also cannot turn on the play start sound because of the exact same error above so I have no idea when I say "Hey Google" the thing heard me.

Please if someone from Google is actually active on this forum I would love to hear your thoughts

Hi Richdem,

This is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure that the Google Assistant App and Google App are both installed and updated on your phone using the same email address as your Google Home app
  2. Forget Wi-Fi on your iPhone
  3. Turn on Airplane mode
  4. Reboot phone and Google Home devices
  5. Once Phone is back on and still on Airplane mode, connect to Wi-Fi
  6. Proceed with the setup

If the issue persists, do this:

  1. Factory reset your Google Nest Mini.
  2. Reboot phone and WiFi router. Wait 5  minutes before turning on the WiFi router.
  3. Once the phone is back on, make sure Bluetooth is on, Location is on, mobile/cellular data is off, WiFi assist is off.
  4. Go to the phone's WiFi settings, look for Nest Mini's temporary hotspot.
  5. Connect the phone to the Google Nest Mini’s temporary hotspot.
  6. Open Google Home app and proceed with the set up.

Tell me how it goes.

Best,

Dan

Hey there,

Chiming in to see if you still need assistance with this. Hope the previous post helped. Let us know if you have additional questions, otherwise we’ll be locking the thread.

Best,

I ended up returning the Nest Mini and exchanging it for another. The 2nd one worked straight away.
