Hi!
- When was firmware 384934 released?
- What does it FIX / CHANGE??
- Why are the devices configured in a STEREO PAIR NOT UPDATED at the same time and WHAT are the implications??
NOTE: I have a stereo PAIR, and the main LEFT CHANNEL is still on the previous firmware!!! - removing the STEREO link and RESETTING the device did NOTHING! Still on the previous firmware! Shouldn't the device be updated to the latest firmware after a reset and configuration???
Another fact is that this latest firmware is NOT LISTED officially either as PREVIEW PROGRAM and PRODUCTION firmware!!! https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257
Data from my stereo pair, with different firmware!!

BTW, this was copy paste from the Google home app, that's in Portuguese, BECAUSE IT ALWAYS USES THE SYTEM LANGUAGE AND IT CANNOT BE CONFIGURED TO USE ANY OTHER LANGUAGE!!! BECAUSE OF THIS I CANNOT USE AUTOMATION!!

To find out when devices firmware was released see this page: Google speaker and display firmware versions and release notes - Google Nest Help
Devices should be automatically updated and if one is available, please do update the firmware for the other device for the stereo sound and make sure automatic updates are enabled!
I hope this helps!
I'll dig in to see if I can find any fixes to why this is the case.

NO!!! This DOES NOT help!
I have 2 devices with an UNKNOWN firmware, NOT listed on the OFFICIAL PAGE: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-preview-program-firmware...
That's firmware 384934
Then, i have 1 DEVICE, that is part of a STEREO pair, that was not updated automatically to the "unknown" firmware, and has the LATEST firmware LISTED!
That's firmware 375114
- I cannot FORCE the update (i tried many approaches)
- The device has AUTOMATIC UPDATES on!
- I removed it from the stereo pair and did a reset, nothing changed!
So, my questions remain!

Why is this a RECOMMENDED ANSWER???
ALL DEVICES HAVE BEEN CONFIGURED to UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AUTOMATICALLY!!!!
ALL DEVICES were PAIRED AFTER they HAVE BEEN CONFIGURED to UPDATE THE FIRMWARE AUTOMATICALLY!!!!
The firmware IS NOT updated on BOTH STEREO PAIRS!!!
I'm asking for months now HOW DOES THIS affect the STEREO PAIR! NO answer!
I'm asking for months now HOW CAN ONE FORCE an UPDATE! It's NOT possible!
So... are the STEREO PAIR DEVICES doomed not to be up to date because ONE of the devices is never updated?

When Google Nest marks a reply as a "Recommended Answer", they do NOT identify who marked it as such.
In contrast, when a reply is marked as a "Best Answer", they identify who marked it as such.

Anyone knows who to "force" the device firmware update?
03-24-2024 04:12 PM
Hello GOOGLE!
Any way that we can FORCE a firmware update?
03-24-2024 04:26 PM
We've been a Google Nest customer for 5 years. Google Nest PUSHES out firmware updates on its own schedule, and there is no way to FORCE or INITIATE a firmware update, even though numerous customers in this forum have asked for years.
03-24-2024 05:22 PM
Well... i have a STEREO PAIR with different firmware... that's not good!
I believe there is a BUG (that only updates ONE of the devices on the STEREO PAIR) and I'm not alone in this one...
04-19-2024 11:46 AM
I've just realised I have exactly the same problem, with exactly the same firmware codes.
04-22-2024 10:12 AM
Hi Folks,
Thank you for posting and giving the details. I'm sorry that you received the update only on one device; this could be annoying to not have the exact same update for all devices.
Unfortunately, we don't have an option to force the updates since we need the software on the device up to date, which constantly needs improvements for a better experience.
For your concern, please fill out this form. Our specialist team will reach out to you for better assistance on this issue. In the mean time please follow the below instructions:
Let me know once you're done with the form.

Hi,
I have filled out the form. My speakers are always connected to the internet, we almost never experience drops and they're well placed for wifi connection, and I only use the original adaptors but plugging them directly into wall sockets isn't a viable option. In my observation, the 'lead' speaker of the pair is the one that has received the update, so I suspect it is in the way they are paired that the issue with these updates lies.
04-22-2024 10:29 AM - edited 04-22-2024 10:31 AM
Exactly!!!
On the STEREO PAIRS, ONLY the "main" device got the firmware UPDATE!
This is an UPDATE BUG...
Just like it's NAMING the STEREO PAIR!!! (2 devices... named LEFT and RIGHT, PAIRED with name STEREO... are seen on the network as LEFT!!! one must RENAME the STEREO PAIR once it's configured... and guess what?? AFTER UNPARING... the LEFT device is named... STEREO!! - THIS is a BUG)
I also tried to use the devices UNPAIRED for a few days, but the device stuck on the previous firmware was NOT updated automatically (YES, the option to receive automatic updates is ON)
Also... WHY is the "latest" firmware still NOT listed on the firmware page??? Is the Google Nest ecosystem "dead"? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257

I also have the naming bug for the stereo speakers, the device list names them by one speaker (in my case the left speaker) and yet clicking nonb this opens the stereo pair
06-01-2024 03:04 PM - edited 06-01-2024 03:05 PM
This is what i do:
- Configure LEFT device name (Google Speaker L)
- Configure RIGHT device name (Google Speaker R)
- Configure every aspect of BOTH speakers to be the same (even automatic updates), because the configuration of the STERO PAIR is NOT HONORING each device configuration (ex: if you forget to configure the ULTRASOUND SENSING on BOTH speakers - ON or OFF - configuring it after the PAIR as been created DOES NOT WORK! The device will honor it's individual configurations, NOT the STEREO SPEAKER CONFIGURATION!!!)
- Create the STEREO PAIR (that is seen on the network, and even in the Google Home App CONFIG option as the LEFT SPEAKER NAME)
- EDIT the name of the STEREO SPEAKER PAIR (that, internally, reconfigures the LEFT DEVICE NAME!!!)
STERO PAIRING has many problems...
05-08-2024 04:17 PM - edited 05-08-2024 04:19 PM
So... my STEREO PAIR devices still have different firmware!
No one explains if there is a BUG that prevents BOTH devices of a STEREO PAIR to UPDATE to the most recent firmware!
Also, NO ONE explains what are de consequences of this!
- Let's imagine the most recent firmware introduces FIXES and/or NEW BUGS... are those present on BOTH devices if the MAIN DEVICE has the NEW firmware???
- If i SWAP the devices (configure the device that was NOT updated as the "main" device) WILL that allow it to UPDATE in the near future?
There is no information whatsoever about this!
Must i UNLINK and NOT USE a stereo pair until the device stuck on the old firmware updates??
:\\\\\
A detailed info about this would help!

This issue still puzzles me...
WHY doesn't Google UPDATE the FIRMWARE page?? https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-preview-program-firmware...
BTW, my STEREO PAIR still has different firmware! (tried to unpair for a few days to see if the device with the old firmware would update, but no success... it remains with the 375114 firmware)

For over two months now, customer @marcolopes has been reporting that one of their Nest Minis is on firmware version 384934, but that version is NOT listed on Google Nest's firmware page. Why not?
05-30-2024 11:11 AM
Hi Folks,
Thank you for posting. I'm really sorry that it is still not showing the latest update for the firmware version, @marcolopes. This could be frustrating since it passed 2 months ago and there are no updates about it. I really appreciate you chiming in. @MplsCustomer.

@code_ and @marcolopes
I am also having this issue. I did a recent home rebuild at the behest of your colleagues and spent much time checking the software was correct for each device, so it has come out of sync since then, OR this is a display error in the app
I note you suggest in reply to @marcolopes that updates should be enabled, of course this is *always* true, the only user choice is preview programme or not. Automatic updates that the user can configure only apply to the Home App/Nest App via Google Play. Unless I am missing something I thing it is incorrect to suggest otherwise

@marcolopes I have exactly the same with my stereo pair of Nest Minis.
Also, I can't find the thread but you asked recently if anyone could try Home Mini power supplies with Nest Minis.
Someone beat me to the reply that they weren't compatible but I can confirm that Nest Mini and the original Google Home (speaker that looks like an air-freshner) supplies are interchangeable.
Here in the UK the Home has a larger, rectangular unit but fitted with the same type of plug.
My son has a pair of Homes, one with its original power supply and the other with the small, circular Nest Mini supply.
Both work perfectly and he hasn't noticed any popping from either speaker.

May be worth a shot.
@ByronP Do you think this could be an option/recommended to give a worth trying?

Hi @code_,
Thank you for your post.
Every answer is valuable for us, and you can try every step in the community to resolve the issue as you consider that it will help you with your Nest device. We are always looking for ways to help the community.
Please keep me posted if you need more help. I´ll look forward to your response.

well... Google should start by UPDATING the information about the devices... (no, the firmware page is NOT updated yet!)
And then, someone could explain to us what was already asked!
- Why are the devices configured in a STEREO PAIR NOT UPDATED at the same time and WHAT are the implications??
06-13-2024 12:12 PM
Are you saying that you Google Nest Mini 2ng GEN was popping, but since you swapped the power supply it's not popping anymore?
Users have reported that the power supply swap did nothing: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Strange-popping-sound-in-my-nest-mini/m...
06-13-2024 03:11 PM
Agreed. This makes so little sense, it's almost embarrassing by proxy that it is being considered seriously.
It's not impossible of course, but it is unlikely.
06-19-2024 08:56 AM
The power supply swapping didn't make any difference but I must say that the popping has become less of an issue recently.
It's still happening but the pops are quieter and somewhat less noticeable.
Still annoying but I wondered it's improved for you?
06-28-2024 01:55 PM
It depends on the DAY!
Some days... it's a POPPING festival!!!
Some days... it's a SLOW popper!
P.S. there is a NEW firmware: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257
It was launched to fix this: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Having-trouble-with-Speaker-groups-Read...
06-28-2024 01:57 PM
NEW FIRMWARE 3.73.420420! https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257
Yet... the SAME problem!
1 Standalone device UPDATED!
RIGHT DEVICE of a STEREO PAIR UPDATED! The LEFT device is still on the old firmware!!!
07-03-2024 08:23 AM - edited 07-03-2024 08:25 AM
Once again, I now have 2 devices updated to the most recent PREVIEW firmware 3.73.420420 (already listed in the firmware page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257) BUT one device still "refuses" to UPDATE!!!
So, i don't have the latest firmware important BUG FIXES because:
1) Either there is a problem with google firmware update process
2) Because the device belongs to a STEREO PAIR, only ONE device is updated!
NOTE: I removed, once again, the DEVICES form STEREO PAIR, reboot, unplugged, entered LEFT PREVIEW program, ENTERED PREVIEW program again... to no AVAIL! I even switched the devices (LEFT <-> RIGHT) to be sure that maybe only the LEFT (main?) device would be updated... well, that's NOT IT, because the RIGHT device was updated this time...
PLEASE GOOGLE, implement a way to do a MANUAL UPDATE!!!
07-04-2024 02:06 PM
@marcolopes
I have a separate Google WiFi query ongoing, and I was also told to check and update the firmware for them (which the user has no control over) by a support agent and also told to try reinstalling the Google Home app (as if it makes a different to the WiFi configuration. It's the same agents/contracted contact centre and the same BS.
All stuff worked fine..updates to firmware...problems
07-16-2024 09:52 PM
I have all the devices updated to the most recent preview firmware!
Finally!
I opened a ticket... again!
It was that? I don't know...
07-17-2024 03:01 PM
It would be quite a smart automation to push an fw update upon ticket creation, or better than that... actually include the data when submit as it appears...yet they ask you.
Is the firmware page up.to date then?
07-18-2024 01:14 AM
Yes! Firmware page is up to date.
