I just purchased a Google Nest Mini gen. 2 to work as a chime for my Wireless Nest Doorbell.
The installation went smoothly. The Nest mini is showing up in my Google Home app. It works as a chime when someone rings the doorbell (says somebody is at the door).
However, it won't respond to any of my commands. When I say "Hey Google" it lights up, but when I then tell it to play music, tell me what the time is, start a timer or whatever, nothing happens.
I can control the volume on the sides of the device and currently it is rather loud when someone rings the doorbell. However, within the Home app the volume keeps showing as 0 and it says it is not playing. When I move volume control with my finger on the app, it forgets it as soon as I leave the settings.
Any ideas?

That is odd. You could try simply rebooting it, either in the Google Home app or by unplugging it briefly and then plugging it back in, to see if that resets whatever is going on.

Hi folks,
@MplsCustomer, thanks for helping.
@JSThomsen, this is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:
Could you ask these questions: “Hey, Google! What’s the weather today”, “Hey, Google! Tell me the time.”
Keep me posted.
Best,
Dan
