Google Nest Mini making weird noise, can't find any info online.

Hello! I have a Google Nest mini, and I've got a bit of a story: I have a sleep automation that goes like this:

Tell time

Set an alarm

Tell the weather

Tell a joke

Play Ocean noises

So I was running it as usual, but right after it told me the weather, it did this loud barking sound for about 10 seconds. It kind of sounded like someone saying BOWOWOWOW really loudly, trying to imitate a dog. Then Google Assistant said "I'm sorry, I don't understand". A family member has told me that this has happened before, approximately a week ago. I have no idea what this means, but it scared me when I heard it. If anyone knows what I can do to make sure this does not happen again, please let me know. Thanks!

P.S. I know it sounds a little crazy, but this sound scared my family member so much that they didn't want to be in the same room as the nest mini.

Hi Silcat,

Apologies for the delay. This is not the experience we want you to have; let me help you. A few questions: were there any recent changes made? What troubleshooting steps have you done so far? The issue is happening during the activation of the routine, right?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, try to remove/delete and recreate a routine with slightly different actions and see if the issue persists.

In addition, reverting your device back to its default settings by doing a factory reset might take us home. Follow the steps in the link. Click here.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello! There were not any recent changes made, and I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding. This does not happen everytime i do the routine, just sometimes. Either way, i have rebooted my phone, the speaker and my router. So far it has not happened again, but if it does, I will message back here. Thank you!

Wonderful — we appreciate the update. Since your Google Nest Mini is working as it should now, I'll go ahead and lock this thread for the next 24 hours. If you have new issues, updates or discussion topics, feel free to start a new thread here in the Community.
