Google Nest Mini not casting audio

CMathew
Community Member

It was working well until we got a new router. All cameras added back on no problem but the nest minis are connected but not casting audio for longer than 1 minute. We have factory reset and added the Minis again to our home app to no avail.

We have checked our new router is operating on WPA3.

The nest minis are showing as connected to the network on 2.4ghz.

Not sure what to do.

Hi CMathew,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that after changing your router, your Nest Mini devices are not casting audio for longer than 1 minute. Thanks for letting us know that you factory reset and added your Nest Minis again to your home app and provided important details such as your new router operating on WPA3 and your Nest Mini devices being connected to the network on 2.4 GHz. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • How far from the router are your Nest Mini devices?
  • Are you using an Android or iPhone device to control your Nest Mini devices?
  • What is the make, model, and software version of your router?
  • Who is your Internet service provider?
  • What's the Nest Mini device's firmware version?
  • Are your Nest Mini devices discoverable in the Google Home app?
  • What is the status of the Nest Mini devices LED lights?
  • Are you getting any error messages in the Google Home app or devices when your Nest Mini devices stop casting?

In the meantime, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Try to set up the Nest Mini devices on the 5GHz band. If your router is dual-band, refer to the manual or website to get the instructions on how to set it to broadcast on both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands.
  2. If a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or proxy server is enabled, disable it from the network. Please contact your ISP provider for further assistance.
  3. Enable Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). Google Nest and Home devices will not be able to communicate with the router if IGMP is disabled on the router. Please contact your ISP provider for further assistance.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
