Google Nest Mini reports "unable to connect to the internet" while it has a 85~100% wifi quality

A google nest mini has been added to our Nest doorcam & Hub to replace the traditional chime. It doesn't work reliably and has intermitted problems which are too frequent IMHO. So far it is not meeting the expectations. It was added to overcome problems with the Nest doorcam app connectivity but it also seems to have flaws.

Symptoms:

- It sometimes reports "unable to connect to the internet"
- Ping to the IP address doesn't work (destination host unreachable)

- Unify controller reports an 85~100% Wifi connection quality:

- It is also reporting that it is connected (???)

- Google Home app also unable to connect

- When I power cycle the mini the problem is resolved.

What is unclear is why the mini has wifi issues and the doorcam doesn't. The mini is 5 meters away from the Access point (horizontally) while the Doorcam is 1,5m further away and seperated with an extra exterior stone wall.

What can be done to make it more reliable? I strongly believe my semi-professional network installation (Ubiquity gateway, switches and access points) are better than average. I generally have wifi speeds up to 300 Mbps towards the internet (which is clipped by the ISP subscription limits). Besides this there seem to be more people with similar issues.

Please advice.
