Google Nest Mini won’t stay connected

MishellyB

We just moved a few weeks ago have have minis or hubs set up in nearly every room as we did at our old house, but one device refuses to stay connected. I have to factory reset it and it works for an hour or two and then with nothing changing it disconnects and refuses to reconnect.

@MishellyB

Have you tried temporarily moving your Home Mini to a location closer to a wired access point just to see if the problem is due to a weak Wi-Fi signal?

I did, but that's in the bathroom, lol. And there is still wonky connectivity. Also, when I am connecting it to the wi-fi it shows full signal.

Hi folks,

@MplsCustomer, thanks for the help.

@MishellyB, that certainly is not the experience we want you to have and we're here to help. A few questions: when you say you did a factory reset, was it the same steps here on this link? Which of your Nest Hub and Google Home Mini/Nest Mini's are constantly disconnecting from Wi-Fi? How often does it disconnect in a day? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers. Plug them back in after 3 minutes or 5 minutes tops. Restarting your phone might also help.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Hello, yes used the instructions for the mini gen 2.

Also, we had tried rebooting multiple times and moving throughout the room. I first thought there may have been some interference from the smart bulb in the lamp I had it next to (which hadn’t ever disconnected) to across the room actually closer to the access point. But aside from the initial connection it doesn’t stay connected.

Hi MishellyB,

Thank you for doing the provided steps. For confirmation, what Nest speakers are constantly disconnecting? Could you try having them closer to your router to see the difference? Are all your devices on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz frequency? If you can access your router settings, it would be best to set the channel to 1, 6 or 11 and monitor the behavior. If you're not able to access your router's GUI, please contact your ISP or the router's manufacturer to help you out.

Tell us how it goes.

Regards,

Dan
