Google Nest and Mini providing weather for a location several towns away

AuntieS

About a week ago, several devices started giving me the weather for a location several towns away.  I have reset the devices, I have removed my location in my phone and re-added it to every device, map, etc.  Did this on both phones.  One Nest gives the correct location, the other Nest and the minis give the wrong location.  We have not moved and we have not changed routers or internet providers.  We have not changed anything.

Hey AuntieS,

We appreciate your efforts. Sorry to hear about your experience with your Google Nest speakers and display. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. To confirm, does it accurately answer your question about your location? How many accounts are linked to your device? Do they have the same issue when asking the speakers about weather?

Let's go ahead and try connecting one of your devices on a different network, like a mobile hotspot, to see if your device will have the same behavior.  Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Nest Hub or Mini).

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.  All devices give the correct location.  I have my Google account and my boyfriend has his Google account.  We only have one Google Home account.  Only one Nest gives the correct weather answer.  Hotspotting does not help.

Hey there AuntieS,

Appreciate the steps you’ve taken. May I ask from what country you are in? When you did the reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link? I know that you’ve done the reboot already but, it would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot too:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, let’s double check your device information by editing the home address of your device:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. At the top, make sure your home name is listed. If needed, tap the name to change the selected home.
  3. Tap Settings > Home information > Home address.
  4. Tap Edit > Enter your address > Next.
  5. Drag the map so the pin is on your home, then tap Done.

Note: When you change the home address, it only affects the devices in the home you selected. You can edit or delete this address anytime.

I also suggest you see the links below about information on changing your home and work locations and google maps synchronization:

  1. Change your home and work locations
  2. Update your home & work settings

Let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,

Dan

Hello AuntieS,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?

The above has already been a couple of times.

Hey AuntieS,

If you haven't already, please create a new Home structure and setup the Google Home and Nest devices that are giving incorrect weather. You may need to factory reset these devices first before adding them.

Keep me posted.

Best,
Lovely

Just as randomly as it stopped working, it has now started to work correctly again.  Thank you to all for your suggestions.  Think it was a Google bug which has now been resolved as none of the suggestions worked.

Hi AuntieS,

Thanks for updating us. Glad to know that it's already working on your end.

Since this has been resolved, we'll consider this complete and will lock the thread now. Feel free to start a new one if you need assistance with your Google Nest speakers and the Community would gladly help.

Best,

Princess
