Google Nest audio installation using an iMac

I recently bought a Google Nest Audio smart speaker. I have an iMac and a Windows PC, but no smartphone. The instructions that came with the speaker say to make the device operable, begin with downloading the Google Home app from the Google Play or the App Store to get on-screen steps to set up the speaker. But Google Play won't allow me to download. Is there any way to set up and use a Google Nest speaker without having an android phone, or another smart phone.? We don't plan to use it for turning lights on and off, just music, news, info. Sales clerk said we could do it, but I can't find a way. Thanks!

Hi fan,

Unfortunately the sales clerk has given you the incorrect information about the requirements needed for the initial setup.

You need to use the Google Home app on either an Android phone or tablet 6.0 or above or iOS phone or tablet 13.0 or above.
