Google Nest won't connect to Phillips hue (something went wrong)

Dear Community,

I was here almost exactly one year ago and writing you now in hopes to finally get a solution!

The yearly disconnect from all my Philips Hue Lamps (Bluetooth) happend and I just can't reconnect them. Everytime I think I'm close, my hopes get crushed with this message during setup "Something went wrong".

I press retry, wait a couple of minutes with the same outcome.

So here is everything I done so far:

1. Factory Reset all my bulbs in the Philippis Hue App

2. Factory Reset my Nest Hub

3. Uninstall the Hue App

4. Uninstall Google Home App

5. Switched my Wifi-Router to 2.4 GHz Frequency

6. Rebooted the Router

7. Reinstalled the Google Home App and made a new home

8. Reconnected the factory reset Google Nest Hub and set it up

To this point everything looked pretty promising

9. Press the UI to connect other devices

10. Pressed the Option "Google Nest or Partner devices" and gave it time to search for my Bulbs

AND NOW this is the point where I get inconsistent outcomes:

- one is that the Google Home App finds all my bulbs the easy way. I can select the different bulbs and the are indicated through a light pulse. But by pressing "Set Up" everything goes downhill. No Success. Just the Message "Something went wrong". No Error code, nothing. Thats the moment where I go back up to point 1 of my List and repeat every step again. But it just doesn't help.

- the second outcome is, that the Google Home App won't find any of my bulbs and just leaves me in the dark without any chance to troubleshoot or even guess where the problem could be.

I also tried all these steps on my iPad. Nothing changed. Same Problem same outcome.

Cause I am confronted with this Problem again and again I can say, that this Problem MUST BE AT GOOGLEs SIDE. There is no logical explanation why it just do not work.

The Google Nest Hub is Set up just fine. The lights pulse if selected. So there is a basic connection between the blub to my Phone through the Nest Hub.

But why on god can I not set up the bulb into the app to control them via assistant.

However, the Setup in the Hue app works just fine. I select the different bulbs individually, load them into the app and control them easily. But only via the Hue app. I don't want to get my phone out every time. Especially when I just know that the Google Home App integration could work.

Integrating the Hue Bulbs to Google Home after registering them to the Hue App is a impossible task. I don't know why but it's just not working. If the bulbs are registered in Hue before integrating them to Google Home, they just won't show up. I need to factory reset and unlink them from hue to make them visible to Google Home again.

But the Setup issue stays the same.

Long story short: is anybody experiencing the same problem and could help or is there a smart Google employee that solved this problem already?

Last time I was confronted with this I bought a new bulb. But now I have just to many bulbs and it would be too expensive.

Tech Specs:

- 1x Google Nest Hub (1. Gen)

- 6x Phillips Hue GU10 Bulbs (Bluetooth)

- NO Philips Hue Bridge

- FritzBox 6670 RB (currently running just 2.4 GHz)

- Google Pixel 7 (Android 15)

Thanks I advance

Greetings

Hi, @NoNolan!

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry you're encountering the "Something went wrong" message while trying to connect your Philips Hue lights to the Google Home app. I appreciate you taking the time to troubleshoot! Sharing details about your mobile device, the number of lights, your internet network information, and the Nest Hub model is helpful in identifying the potential cause of the issue. I’m happy to assist you!

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • The signal between the device and the speaker or display might not be strong enough. To increase the signal strength, move the device and speaker or display closer to each other. The devices should be no more than 15 feet (4.5 meters) apart.
  • Check that you were the member who originally added the Hue lights. If not, contact the family member who did and ask them to re-add the devices to the Google Home app.
  • Other devices near the speaker, smart display, or Philips Hue smart devices might cause interference. If you have a nearby Wi-Fi router, cordless phone, microwave, or Bluetooth speaker, try troubleshooting wireless interference.

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
