Google audio pair, broadcasts echo.

Hi,

I have 7 Google devices including 2x displays, 2 minis, an older Google speaker and 2x Google Audios.

The problem I have is that I bought the two Google Audios to use as stereo speakers to stream music from Spotify. This works fine.

I have two problems with these speakers.

1. If someone broadcasts from another speaker in the house to all speakers, the living room pair echo, to the point it is massively unclear and I can't hear what they are saying. I am disabled so I spend most of my time down stairs but if my wife nips upstairs, she will just do a general broadcast as she is not sure which room I'll be in.

What does work fine is if you broadcast to the living room pair only, then there is no echo, but this is. It a good solution because as I said, my wife doesn't know which room I am in and so blanket broadcasts the whole house.

2. When I broadcast from the living room speaker, whether it is paired or not, the other speakers in the house dont get the first part of the message. So if I say 1, 2, 3, it might only hear 3 or sometimes 2, 3.

This happens all the time regardless of whether the speakers are paired or not.

I have been on with tech support and so far they suggested I try creating a new home, if I put the pair into a new home, broadcast no longer echoes, but because it is no longer in the same home as my other devices such as the TV in the same room, it will not turn the TV on and off and it will not play requests on the TV, also for some reason Spotify works but it won't allow me to use voice commands to turn it up and down.

This problem only occurs when the pair are in a separate home.

After that they said to put all devices in the new home, which I did and then it had the original problem, echoing broadcasts.

I have tried factory resetting both devices multiple times, deleting my home and re adding it and re adding all devices, turning off my router, then back on again, nothing seems to fix the issue. Does anyone have the same problem or perhaps a solution?

As friendly as tech support are, I feel like I am going round in circles.

I have exactly the same problem. and it happens 100% of the time, and makes the broadcast feature useless... it's unintelligioble!

So while I don't have a solution, I do have a workaround: if you are in the room where the paired speakers echo, once the broadcast has stopped, say "Hey Google, please repeat" and it will repeat the broadcast, but this time without the echo... and that workaround works 100% of the time for me.

Unfortunately, "be friendly" and "send the customer around in circles" seem to be two of the top three bullet items in the Google customer support rep job description. In case you're wondering, the third is "don't bother the engineers". I'm not usually a negative person but trying to deal with Google product support for the last year has made me understand why monopolies are not good for the consumer.

P.S. Good luck, but I wouldn't count on getting any useful help for your problem here either. We're all in the same boat, and it's leaking badly.

Hey all,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Since this thread hasn't had activity in a while, we're going to close it to keep content fresh. We hope you were able to get the help you need, but if you're still having trouble, please try removing the speakers from the group, and resetting the devices. Once removed, try re-adding those to ensure they are all connected to the same account and Wi-Fi.

Best regards,
Jake
