Google home doesn’t recognize smart swich.

Hello! I have a strange bug with my smart switch. I have a “Smart life” dimmable switch  that I sync with the Google Home app. It worked for a half year, but it suddenly stopped  working. I couldn’t control the switch with voice or with google app, it sad “sorry it looks like that device isn’t set up yet”.

So i deleted Google Home and all the apps that controls the devices and reinstalled them. It didn’t solve the problem.

Hey Raspy,

Thanks for visiting the community.

My apologies for the delayed response. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues controlling your smart switch using your Google Home/Nest device. To confirm, is it working on the native app?

Please try these steps below that may help us fix the issue:

  1. Reset your smart switch device then setup on the native app.
  2. Check if you are able to control it manually from the native app.
  3. Ask your Google Home/Nest device to sync all your devices. You can also unlink and re-link your Samrt Life account from the Google Home app.
  4. Check if you are able to control your switch via voice command.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

1. I resetted the device then added to Smart Life.

2. I can control it manually from Smart Life.

3. I unlinked then re-linked my Smart Life account, then asked the Nest to sync my devices.

4. I can't control those device with voice, or manually through Google Home app.

Hey Raspy,

Thanks for trying. Could you check if you have the same issue when using the Google Assistant on your phone? Also, could you try renaming one of your lights on the Google Home app, then make a command to control it again.

Keep us posted.

Ok. I renamed the lights, now it beeps after i command the assistant to turn on/off the lights but it doesn't change it. Although now i can control the brightness with the Google Home app and by talking to the assistant. I also tried to log in with an other account set up the lights on that one and control it but it didn't work either. I think the problem is with the communication between the two applications.

Hey Raspy,

Thanks for trying. Please proceed with resetting your speaker. Once done, set it up again then sync all your devices, then try to control your lights via voice command.

Let me know if that works.

Ok I unlinked all my devices factory reseted the speaker, linked the lights to it, synced the devices and the tried to control the lights via voice command but the problem is the same. I can change the light’s brightness via voice but I can’t turn it on/off. When i try to change the brightness it recognizes the device and changes it, but when i try to turn it on/off it says “Sorry I don’t understand”.

Hey Raspy,

We appreciate all your efforts. Could you try renaming your light. Make sure to assign a unique name for the speaker to recognize it immediately.

Yes I tried to name it :up, led light, switch , bar, ceiling. Originally it was “Ceiling Light”. It only says: “Sorry I don’t understand” or “It looks like that device hasn’t been set up yet…”.
