Google home mini not activating. Device utility not compatible with pix8 pro

Hi all! I'm having an issue with my google home mini 1st gen not activating. It's old but new fresh out of the box. As part of the home setup it refers me to download the Google Device utility however it is not compatible with pixel  8 pro. I have tried resetting the home mini as well no luck.

Hi! I'm having the same issue. I factory reset one of my Google Home Mini speakers and now it wants me to activate it using the Device Utility app, but this app is not compatible with Android 15 on my Pixel phone.

Why is this not fixed yet?  The Device Utility app is not compatible with Android 15.  Do I need to return my items to get my money back?

I only have two Pixel 6a phones.  Both recently updated to Android 15.  Neither work-Utility app says not compatible with OS...use older version.  Paraphrased.

I ended up using the alternate method via a hardwire connection to the Chromecast.  And when it is was able to get around it.  But it wasn't easy or pretty.
