Google home mini states “mic is off”, but is not the case. It has 4 orange leds though.

Goodday. I already contacted Google Support. They could not help me. Ms. C. had no idea what is causing this issue. Since yesterday my Google Home mini is showing 4 Orange leds and is notifying me, very inconsistently,  “your mic is switches of”, right after this notification “you mic is switched on” and 2 seconds later, “by the way your mic is switched off”, “in order to turn it on, slide the switch on the back to on”. This continues  throughout the whole day. One need to know the hardware button on the device has been “ON” all the time. So even with the switch on, the device is telling me that the mic is switched off. I have no clue, Google does not have a clue. Does anyone else have a clue at all?  Thanks a million. Looking forward receiving the feedback of the experts on this forum. (Factory reset done as well / hard reset as well, no change at all). Thanks.

Hey Fred-V,

Appreciate your quick response. This is an isolated issue and upon further checking, there's no known issue related to it. Also, since you purchased the speaker in the US, it only has 1 yr. warranty.

Let us know if you need further help.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey Fred-V,

Thanks for reaching out. I know how challenging it is not to have a working device when needed - we're here to help. A few questions - when did the issue start? When and where do you purchase your device? Are you able to cast music from your phone to your Google Home Mini?

Looking forward to your response.

Hi Muddi, thanks for reaching out to me on this. It indeed is driving me mad not getting this issue sorted myself.

the answers to your questions:

1. Less then 5 days ago

2. over 2 years ago. Its the v1.0 guess. It has not a whole on the back (v2.0 has, right?) It has some kind of reset button one can press at the back, covered by the orange cover plate.

3. Yes, Spotify is steaming music on this devise right now.

thanks for your help. Looking forward receiving your thought and possible soliton on this.

Hi Muddi,

in the meantime I did a hard reset / factory for this google mini hub. I am unfortunately still facing the same issues. Any idea what is causing  this “mic is off” message by the google mini hub? (De hardware switch of the mic is on “on”). Anyone?  Thanks.

Hey Fred-V,

Thanks for that information. This looks like a hardware issue, and has something to do with the mic button. What country are you located in?

I'll wait to your response.

Hi Muddi, would you think so? The button is still on “on”. It started with the button on “on” as well. All of a sudden and out of nothing. The device has been working fine for over the last 4+ years. We kept it in the same place.

Back to your question, we live in the Netherland, the device was bought in the USA 4 years ago (2019). Once again, we never had any issue with it at all. Until recently it started say “device is on, device is switched off, device is still switched off. Etc. This happens 4,5,6 times a day. Any idea why and how come? Anyone?  Thanks.
