Hi Sam-sam,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further look into it. I just wanted to check, are you using a dual-band router? If yes, on which band are your Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini devices connected?

Regards,
Alex

We have one main modem/router that is dualband. Then with utp-cables there are 2 range extenders that emit only 2.4ghz wifi.
All google home devices, except one, are connected to one of the range extenders.  Theréis one connected to the 2.4/5 ghz model/router.
as far as i can see no devices are connected to the 5ghz emitter…
 Hope this helps

I have reset everything. All routers and home devices. It worked for 3 days and now back to nothing… 😞

Hello Sam-sam,

Oh no. Let’s continue working on this. Try changing the DNS address of your router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 > Unplug the router for 2 minutes > Plug back in > Once the router is up and running, reboot each Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini device.  Monitor its behavior and let me know how it goes.

Kind regards,
Alex

Any updates on the issues Alex? Im having pretty much identical issues which others are having. Is there any acknowledgement from Google there is an issue yet?

Hi nofxguy,

This certainly hasn’t been easy for you. Let’s isolate it further. Have you already tried to change the DNS address of your router settings as what I’ve suggested to Sam-sam? Set the DNS address to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 > Unplug the router for 2 minutes > Plug back in > Once the router is up and running, reboot each Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini device.

Keep us posted.

Best,
Alex

Hi Alex, I haven't tried yet. Given they worked without issue until now, what would cause them to all of a sudden require me to manually update my modem settings? they worked fine for 12-24 months on the same modem with its default settings until now. Is this a permanent fix every Google speaker owner will need to do eventually or just a temporary work around until the issue is fixed for everyone?

Ive updated the modem to test if it stops the unresponsive behaviours.

Hey there nofxguy,

Apologies for the delay.

May we know the status of your Nest devices after updating your modem? Is it still giving you the same behavior as before?

Looking forward to your response.

Kind regards,

Dan

They are working ok after the update.
Is this a permanent fix all Next users are expected to change their Modem settings if they stop working?

I've had a similar/same issue the last few weeks. I have several Nest Audio speakers, a Nest Mini, Nest Hub Max, Home Max speakers all of which worked fine for, well, forever. No changes at all have been made to my home wifi, network or modem settings and all of a sudden my google speakers all start playing up at the same time. As of a few weeks ago, sometimes just individually or half the house at a time, they would stop responding to any voice commands and cast rquests.  Sometimes it would just be 1-2 speakers, the next day all except a pair of Next Audios. I have to power cycle them to get them working again. 24 hours later, they start dropping off and stop responding yet again. Ive rebooted the modem, tried changing the modem to single band 2.4g, same issue. Set modem back to dual band, same issue. Ive factory reset every single Nest speaker, set up as new again, they work for 24 hours then start dropping off again randomly. They all worked almost flawlessly for months on end, if not years, then all of a sudden the same issue impacting different types of next speakers and display all at once.
Reaching end of frustration levels with them and ready to throw them all down the bin shute soon if I can get them all back and working like they should! H E L P! 😣☠️
