Google home routines wont start automation

Gpatel10

I'm trying to set a bedtime routine at a certain time that involves youtube music and a playlist. The playlist wont automatically start to play through any speaker/display and theres no "home group" option even though I have all my speakers/display attached to "home group". I get an error mesage that says "the music cant be played right now" or something very similar. The music is uploaded into the playlist.. not directly streaming. I used to have 2 channels to removed 1.

What else could be the problem for the routine not starting at set time. I can manually goto the playlist and cast it through my "home group".. it just wont start playing by itself. It used to work last year before youtube music became the default for google.

Hi Gpatel10,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? When did the routine last work? What streaming services are you using with your media routines?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, I suggest you delete or create a new routine that only involves 1 device and see what happens. See this guide in managing routines.

Best,

Dan

Thank you for your  response.

I use YouTube music(not premium)

I have the next max display and the Google homes.. all tied together in home group.

Problems started when Google music was discontinued.

I will try the sequential reboot.

Hi Gpatel10,

How was it? Does rebooting helped with its behavior?

I restarted every unit.. and deleted and created a new routine. Still doesn't work.

Latest message said can't perform that function on the Google mini but try another device.
