Google home speakers not playing correct playlist or podcast

I am subscribed to Spotify and I have a premium account. But lately when I ask my google home speakers to play one of my specific playlists, it plays a completely different one, every time I ask, no matter how slow and clear I speak. Also when I ask them to resume the podcast I was just listening to, they sometimes will just play a completely different podcast instead. I tried unplugging and restarting one of them to see if it would fix the problem but it hasn’t.

Hi rlclutts,

I know how it feels when something isn’t working the way it should. Let’s further look into it. Give these steps a try:

  • Open the Google Home app > Settings > Music.
  • Choose “No default provider” > Unlink your Spotify account.
  • Force close and reopen the Google Home app > Settings > Music.
  • Choose Spotify and then link your account. It should show that your premium subscription is active once linked.
  • Play music. If the issue persists;
  • Go to the “Devices” button > Tap one of your Google Home speakers > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Back to Devices, scroll down to Other cast/Local devices > Tap the Google Home speaker you removed > Add to a room. Follow the instructions in adding it back to your room.
  • Command it to play your playlist, as well as a specific song.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Alex
