Google nest "find my phone" stopped working. It was still working 2 weeks ago, ringing my samsung device when i give the command but now when i say "find my phone" it only recites my phone number. I've tried all the trouble shooting, restarting the device, checked all settings, location is on, home app is updated, etc but nothing works. Help 😭

Hi kamshererytnow,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about your experience with your Google Nest. Can you tell me what Google Nest speakers are you using? Also, can you please tell me what's the exact response of it after you say "Ok Google, find my phone"?

Lastly, kindly provide the make and model of your phone so we can check further..

Keep me posted.

Best,

Princess

Hi I'm using Google nest mini 2nd gen, and my phone device is samsung s21 5g. When i ask "Ok google, find my phone" it responds as:

"The phone number from your google acct is **** ... you can manage you acct numbers on myacct.google.com"

Hi kamshererytnow,

Thanks for responding.

How many accounts are linked to your Google Nest Mini? If multiple people use the same Google Nest or Home speaker or display, everyone who wants to ring their own phone must link their Google Account and voice to the speaker or display, even the person who set it up.

If you're the only person who use the speaker or display, or you've already linked your Google Account and voice, skip this step.

Link your Google Account and voice to a speaker or display

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Home and then Settings and then Google Assistant and then Voice Match and then Other devices.
    • If you have more than one home, tap the home you want to add Voice Match to.
  3. Tap Get started and then follow the in-app steps.
    • Note: To turn on Voice Match automatically for new devices in the same home, turn on “Automatically enable on future devices.”

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Princess

I am having the exact same problem of late. I have been using the command "Find My Phone", then it asked me which phone, I select and then it rings.  I have been using it for years just fine.   Now when I say "Find my phone" it says ""The phone number from your google acct is **** ... you can manage you acct numbers on myacct.google.com"  just like the OP said.  It even went back to working properly for a day or two.  And now it's doing it again.

Hi DBazz,

I appreciate the details you've shared.

Let's go ahead and try to perform a complete reset. As soon as it is completely set up, let's see if it will make any changes.

Keep me posted.

Thank you for the help! It's back to working like before 😄

Agreed.  Somehow the Assistant command "Find my phone" was responding differently for awhile.  Seems back to normal.
