Google nest keeps disconnecting from the home group.

I have five speakers on the home group. One of the original Google speakers, two Google nest speakers, the Google nest hub and the mini Google nest hub. The kitchen speaker disconnects from the home group several times a week. The only way to relink it is to unplug it and plug it back in and it starts playing again. This happens with SiriusXM as well as YouTube. Any suggestions to correct this?

Hello,

Thank you very much for the tip to restore to factory settings! That did the trick. I was able to reassign to the Home Group and the Nest Speaker hasn't disconnected one.

Again,

Thank you!

Hi Rjarvis,

Thank you for reaching out and for your help! I am sorry to hear that your kitchen speaker keeps disconnecting from your home group. I understand your frustration and would be more than happy to help find a solution. First, I have some quick questions to get a better understanding of this situation.

  • When you say 'home group', is this in regard to your Google Home App listing all of your devices or a speaker group?
  • When the kitchen speaker disconnects, does it show as offline on the Google Home App?
  • When this issue occurs, do you see any error messages?
  • Just confirming, the device only disconnects with SiriusXM and YouTube? How about other types of media?
  • Besides this issue, does the device power on and work normally?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you attempted so far?

Thank you for your patience, I look forward to helping you!

Hi - Thank you for responding - Yes, I referring to the Google Home App when I referenced the Home Group.

Yes, when the kitchen speaker disconnects it does show as offline. I don't see any error messages.

The kitchen speaker will disconnect at random. I asked for the weather her yesterday and I received a response that the kitchen speaker was offline. I unplugged it, waited 10 minutes, plugged it back it and it worked fine the rest of the day.

To attempt to correct I have deleted the kitchen speaker from the Google Home group as well as reconnecting as if the kitchen speaker was new and then re-added to the Home Group  on the Google Home app. Any suggestions other than that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello Rjarvis,

Thanks for your patience! I appreciate your detailed response back, it is very helpful!

Could you please try two more steps?

  1. First, try to reboot (unplug/replug) your router.
  2. If your device is still disconnecting, could you try to do a Factory Data Reset to the kitchen speaker? It will reset your device back to factory settings.

Please keep me updated if the issue still occurs after trying these troubleshooting steps. Once again, thank you for your patience. Let's get this issue resolved!
