Google nest max calling disabled/outdated??

So, I tried video calling a family member on my Google. A feature that used to work pretty well, but when I clicked on call, it said somthing about Google DUO. THAT PLATFORM ENDED!!?? So, I went to my Google home app, and it said it was linked to Google meet. So it’s fully set up but won’t call. What is the deal with Google removing features??! I hope they fix this soon

Hi @Toaster_toast,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with video calling on your Nest Hub Max. I understand how difficult it is when a feature that worked well suddenly stops functioning, especially after the transition from Duo to Google Meet. I appreciate you clarifying that your Google Home app shows the device is already linked to Google Meet. I'm happy to assist.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • Do you receive a specific error message on the screen when you try to initiate a call?
  • When did this issue specifically start occurring?
  • Have you tried "Unlinking" and then "Relinking" your Google Meet account specifically within the Google Home app settings?
  • Is your Google Meet app on your mobile device updated to the latest version?
  • Are you using a personal Google Account (@gmail.com) or a Workspace/Business account?

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.

I have the same problem. Previously with Duo I could call my self when not home and when I’m home. Worked fine!

• I get error: You can’t call you own number.  (With Duo I could call my nest wifi speaker when I’m away from home to call my son after school. Meet can’t do that anymore. I would say it’s a feature that has been removed, please fix it, Important for many google users with nest.)

• after Due was ended!

• Yes I have, version 354.0

• @Gmail.com

I’m in Sweden btw.

Hi there,

Thank you for following up with those details. I understand how difficult it is to lose a feature as important as calling your son after school. I appreciate you clarifying your app version and confirming you're using a personal Gmail Account. I'm happy to assist.

Please try the following steps:

  1. In the home communications settings, disable Meet on the Nest Hub.
  2. Reboot the hub in the Google Home app.
  3. In the home communications settings, enable Meet on the Nest Hub.
  4. Reboot the hub in the Google Home app.

You can also take a look at this Google Meet Help Center post: Unable to video call a Google Nest Hub Max.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Derick.
