I have an old nest mini 2nd gen and heard that is was compatible with Gemini, but I am unable to upgrade the device is there a way to force it to upgrade?

Hi @Nest2ndgenLover

For the benefit of others that may find your post, the short answer as is no. Here's some other important info:

  • The rollout of Gemini for Home voice assistant and Gemini Live is a gradual rollout, there is no way to get the upgrade faster.
  • The rollout hasn't yet started outside of the US. Google are starting with English in the US and will be expanding to other locales in early 2026.
  • Gemini for Home is being rolled out at the Home level and not by account. What that means is when you get the invite and choose to upgrade, it will upgrade all of the devices in that house (but not across other houses you may have associated with your user account). If you have multiple homes in the Google Home app, you may only be invited to enable Gemini for Home voice assistant in one of your homes.
