Google nest products take forever to reply

Google nest hub 2 takes forever to listen to me and respond.

If I say “hey Google, turn off ligts” it keeps listening for a minute or so (indicated by the 4 coloured dots),  then it finally types out what I asked and then replies way later. I already reset the hub, I also returned it to the store and got a new one but it has the same problem. Can someone please help?

Hi ZiabatI,

Thanks for reaching out.

Could you tell us what's the distance between your Google Nest Hub and your router? Distance might be one factor why you're experincing this. I would highly recommend to try moving the Google Nest Hub closer to the router for better and stable connection.

Keep me posted.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply! It’s really close, there is like 1 meter between it and one door. So that couldn’t be the issue unfortunately. Would you know any other way to fix it?

Hey ZiabatI,

Chiming in, to eliminate network issues, please try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one will serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Nest Hub). Let's see if your device will have the same behavior.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi!

I tried it on my mobile hotspot and when I said “hey Google, turn on lights” it instantly worked!! The only issue now is that I don’t wanna have my mobile hotspot on the entire time. I need it to work on WiFi. (I game everyday and I need good internet for that so we have a good subscription) so I don’t understand why it doesn’t work since it’s really close to the router. Do you have any ideas on how I could fix this? Thank you so much anyways for help already!

Hi ZiabatI,

Thanks for trying. It looks like the issue is within your network since you don't experience the same issue when connected to a different network. A few questions: are you using a dual-band router? If yes, do your networks have the same username and password? Let's try to move your speaker farther from your router but make sure that it is within 15-20 ft. away because there are times that too much signal can also affect the performance of device.

Hi Muddi,

We do have a dual-band router, and the 2.4GHz and 5GHz have the same name and password. I also tried different places in the house but it doesn’t work anywhere unfortunately. I’m also reset the router another time but the issue stays.

Kind regards,

ZiabatI

Hey ZiabatI,

You might want to check with your network provider if they can help you separate your networks so we can check what network will works best with your Google Nest device. You can also try adjusting the channel settings on your router to 1, 6, or 11. This will improve the signal of your router.

Cheers,

Muddi
