Hi Bareham,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that every time you try to play a song through YouTube Music, you get an error message saying “sorry, something went wrong” on your Google Nest Device. I understand how frustrating it must be to continue experiencing this inconvenience, especially after factory resetting your device. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please confirm what the model and generation of your Google Nest device is? Here is a Google help center article that can help you to identify your device: Google Nest and Home device specifications
  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • Is your Google Home app updated?
  • Is your YouTube music app updated?
  • What's the Google Nest Device firmware version? You can use this Google help center article as reference: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Do you have a YouTube Music Premium subscription?
  • Do you have this inconvenience with other apps?
  • How far from the router is your Google Nest device?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in WiFi network or recent outages?
  • In what country are you located?
  • What is the voice command you used to play the desired audio content?
  • Is your YouTube Music account the same as your Google account that is linked to the Google Home app?

In the meantime, I recommend you check if there is a YouTube restricted mode setting turned on. If this feature is enabled, your device may not play the media you are requesting. To turn it off, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap “Favorites” or “Devices.”
  3. Tap and hold your device tile, then tap “Settings.”
  4. Tap “Notifications & Digital Wellbeing,” then select “YouTube Settings.”
  5. Under "Use Restricted Mode," turn off “Restrict for me” and “Restrict when someone isn't recognized.” Under "Filter content for YouTube TV," turn off “Filter for me.”

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Virna
