Google responding in other room

I have 3 Nest Mini (2nd Gen), Nest Max, and 2 of the mini nest displays spread out in my 3k square foot home.  I am having the following problems which have gotten worse over the past year:

- when I initate a command, Google’s lights start blinking and takes several seconds to respond.  All devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi.  Wi-Fi settings are strong according to my Wi-Fi control console.  Use Wi-Fi Pods scattered across the home, not all devices are connected to the same pod which are all connected to the same router (pods are a repeater).

- often google will respond on another device that is in a different room.  Sensitivity settings on the responding device are set to -2 and the device I am directly beside set to +2.

- google has made a change in the past year that is causing this.  I have factory reset all devices at no avail.  There are many posts out there that Google tends to close the thread on.

I will also add I’ve been a Google Home owner for 6+ years.  Never had problems until this past year when I setup in new home.

Hi Jwwilke4801,

That certainly isn't the experience we want you to have ― let's check it out. A few questions:are there no changes to your Wi-Fi connection? For confirmation, when you did the factory reset, was it the same steps as what you see on this link? Was the reset done on all your Nest devices? It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router and your Wi-Fi pods followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, you can try to see the difference when you move your Nest devices to a new location in your house.

Lastly, you can check your devices sensitivity to the keyword "Hey, Google" and change it to your liking by following the steps below:

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Tap the device of the preferred speaker or display.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Audio > “Hey Google” sensitivity.
  5. Use the slider to raise or lower the device's sensitivity to make it more or less responsive to "Hey Google".

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?
