Google speaker controls lights in wrong house

Geekygirl

Recently when using the assistant on my nest audio speaker to control the lights in my living room, the lights being controlled are in my mother's house.

The nest speaker and the lights/ switches are all in one house under my google profile.

I have "living room lights" as a group in the "living room" room.

The group "living room lights" includes hue lamps and tuya switches.

My profile has access to my mother's house - I can see it as an option in the drop down list on the Home home screen.

I tried unlinking and relinking Hue and Tuya

I tried removing everything from my house's "living room" room and adding it back.

I finally tried removing my profile from my mother's house - her lights no longer activate in response to my commands in my home, however now my speaker just plays a tone in response to the command and does nothing.

I suspect this issue has been caused by my other @google profile being deleted on March 31st when I was let go from google, and somehow causing conflict with devices set up on various profiles.

Hi Geekygirl,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: which Nest speakers are we working with? When did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers, then your smart lights.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Once done, kindly confirm if all your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network and under the same account. I would suggest linking them all to your own Google account with a Gmail domain. Making it easier for all your devices to sync with each other.

Keep me posted..

Best,

Dan
