My Google Home Mini now doesn’t tell me the weather in my area. It used to but has suddenly stopped. I’ve checked all my settings including my home address in the Google Home app but nothing is working. She just keeps saying “I don’t understand”.

Try asking "What's the weather in (your town)" or a bigger town nearby.

Same. Any weather related question including precipitation, temperature, sunrise, sunset, all come up with "I don't understand." Started February 17th, 2025.

Speaker reboot through Google Home app?
Factory reset if that doesn't work if your desperate, but it could be just a temporary bug.

Nope - this is happening on all of my 4 speakers. (1 mini, 1 regular, and 2 displays.) It's also happening on my phone. I definitely think it's a Google thing.

Wow, that's a lot of questions, but here goes.
When did the inconvenience start? The morning of 2/17/25, My "Good Morning" routine which I have set to summarize the weather has worked flawlessly for at least a year before that date.
Are you using an Android or an iPhone to control your devices? Android
What's the Google device's color and number firmware version? Multiple devices - 3 minis, 1 regular, 2 displays - all are up to date
Is your Google Home app updated?
Yes
Would you kindly confirm whether your Google devices are linked to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network? 5.0
Are your Google devices connected to the same WiFi network as your mobile device? Yes
Could you please check if there is wireless interference like walls and floors, nearby WiFi networks, other electronics, cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and wireless video equipment between your Google devices and the router? Nothing has moved and all devices have worked fine for over a year.
Have you tried to reboot the Google devices to resolve the inconvenience? Yes, even tried Factory Rest on one display to no avail.
As I thought about this problem, I wonder if it's possible that - wherever google gets it weather from - is down. But it has been over 5 days, so I doubt that. I also have a hunch that Gemini is somehow involved, but that's just a hunch.
Address and network all check out fine.

I filled out the form, but I'd still like to point out to anyone listening that this started on ALL 7 of my Google Homes at the EXACT same time, 2/17/25. Obviously Google made a change. I did not have 7 devices go bad all at the same time.

Well, the team did contact me, but now they're asking for totally irrelevant information. I believe they're just getting me to kill time until they figure out the real cause of the problem. They're asking for the serial numbers of the 7 devices. As a programmer, I know that this has absolutely nothing to do with the problem at hand. MAYBE MAC addresses, but not serial numbers. (By the way, my 63 year old eyes can't read the micro-etched serial numbers anyway.) This is absolutely terrible customer service. I have spent over 7 hours giving you all sorts of information. Now, I'm going to turn the tables. Here is a question for you.
Did Google send an update on 2/17/25 that may have caused the "weather" responses to become unrecognizable?
Of course, this is asking Google to admit a mistake, which I know will never happen. But, either way, stop asking me for information that has nothing to do with the problem you created.

Hi zunkman,
Thank you for keeping me updated about your case.
I’m sorry to hear that it is being so hard for you to get the serial number of your devices. I recommend you take a clear picture of your 4 speaker device's serial number and send it as an attachment in your email reply. You can use this help center article as a guide to find the serial number: Find Google Nest or Home speaker or display's serial number
Regarding your inquiry about an update applied on February 17th, 2025, that may have caused the ‘weather’ responses to become unrecognizable, it is a fact that we are trying to determine, and the reason why we are asking you to let us know the firmware version of each one of your speakers is.
To check which firmware version you're on:
Thanks for your kind attention. I hope this information is helpful to resolve your inconvenience as soon as possible.
If you need further assistance, please contact me whenever you need it.

No.
I've already phoned this into Google about a month ago, and you have all my firmware versions.
You're sending me 1 email per week asking for useless or duplicate information. At this rate, it will take months to resolve the problem Google created. (Remember how fast PHONE CALLS used to be?) I have already spent WAY too much time supplying information, and I'm done. You created the problem without my help, and YOU need to fix the problem based on the input from me that you already have. I'm sure I am not the only one having this issue, and it's been over a month. TERRIBLE testing and rollout.

And all of a sudden, just like that, without me doing anything, it all works again.
Gee, almost sounds like Google broke something and then fixed it on their end.
A PLEA to Google - If you break something, don't give the end-user the run-around. Just accept the blame, let the community know, and resolve the issue!!!!
