I've had the Hub for a few years now, with no issues. I recently moved in with an elderly relative with dementia, and figured Live View would be useful, just in case. They have had falls in the past.
I have had Live View working in the past, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get it active this time. When I flick the switch on the rear of the hub mic becomes active, but not video. I turned to the internet for assistance, and have followed a number of walkthroughs from ChatGPT.
The hub, my phone, and the wifi, have all been reset (at the same time). The hub has had a factory reset. The app data and cache have been cleared. Google app has been reset to default, and then updated again. Google Play Store also.
The clux is as follows. When trying to set up the Nest Hub on the App it goes through the 'connecting' screen, before stopping to tell me my version on the Home App is out of date. I've clicked the 'Get Update' button several times, which takes me to the Play Store page, and which has the options 'Uninstall' and 'Open'. The app is clearly up to date.
So right now I have no hub whatsoever, which is useful for a host of things. Can someone please advise?

In the new Google Home app update notes for November 12th 2025 (4.3) there is a rather vague note, but it might relevant to your situation...
"
I've been in a set-up loop myself with my Google Nest Hub Max onboard Nest Cam camera.

Thanks for fnding this. Worrying that they say they have 'fixed' it.

I haven't got the Google Home update 4.3 yet.

I've been attempting to set up the Nest Cam on my Google Nest Hub Max too after a recent Factory Reset, but the set up process is stopping. Probably due to a bug.
I sent Feedback through the Google Home app...
"I'm trying to set up the Nest Cam on my Google Nest Hub Max but after agreeing to the Privacy Conditions and I see the QR code to scan pop up on the Max screen the set-process stops and returns to the Google Nest Hub Max settings page.
I'm assuming it's supposed to go to a camera to scan the QR code.
Thank you for helping if you can 👍"

Hi @BonBonB,
Thanks for posting here in the community forum. I understand that your Google Nest Hub Max had worked flawlessly for several years prior to this move, and you had successfully used Live View in the past. However, you’re currently unable to complete the setup of the device via the Google Home app using your cellphone, Sony I3312. No worries; I’m here to help.
I’m grateful for the information and your collaboration in this forum, @SmartHomeH-TAGS.
I appreciate your time and effort in completing the troubleshooting steps described in the post. To provide you with further assistance, can you please confirm the firmware version of your Sony I3312 and Android version?
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Daniel

Hi @BonBonB,
Thank you for your response. To ensure proper functionality and continue resolving this situation, could you please attempt to set up your Google Nest Hub Max with an alternative mobile device? For the best experience, we recommend using a phone running Android 9.0 or newer.
Let me know how it goes.
Best regards,
Daniel
