I tried searching for this with no luck so I'll ask: has it been discussed before that the Home Mini does not have remote access and why? For times when we are not on the same network but we want control over the mini speakers, is this not technically possible ? If it is why hasn't it been added yet?
Just today I needed to adjust the volume of a speaker for a elderly person but I'm not at home, and I wouldn't know how loud it goes when simply asking it to raise the volume. So it would be perfect to have volume control via the phone app, either ios or Android.
Thanks!

Do you have the 'Assistant' tile on your Favourites page?
If not use the 'edit' button to add it.
Press that tile and say "set [speaker name] to 10 percent".

Hi @BA_,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you're looking for information on how to remotely control the volume of your Google Home Mini speakers when you're not on the same Wi-Fi network. It can certainly be frustrating when you need to adjust a speaker's volume for an elderly person but can't do so remotely through the app. I'm happy to provide you with some information on this.
I understand this feature would be very useful, and while I cannot provide a timeline for new feature rollouts, I can tell you that remote control of your Nest Mini speakers for playing media or changing the volume when you are away from home is generally not supported directly through the Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we appreciate your feedback.
I hope this information was useful.
Regards,
Anders
