Home mini no longer reliable as alarm

I have a pair of home mini devices set up in my bedroom.  I use a goodnight routine that sets an alarm and plays sleep audio (rain sounds).  This usually works correctly, though there are sometimes issues where it doesn't ask for the alarm time but that's not the issue at hand.

It has been working reliably for years but in the last few months has become unreliable.

If i say snooze in the morning the rain sounds do not start up again.  And often 10 minutes later nothing will happen.  No alarm, which is frankly just unacceptable.

If I then ask the device when my alarm is it will generally say something like "you have set an alarm for 8am snoozed till 8am which is going off right now" and then start playing the alarm.

If I can't rely on this device as an alarm why do I even have it?

The devices are updated to the latest firmware 3.73.429109

Hi cirhosis,

Thanks for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear that you’re having inconveniences by snoozing the alarm. Help’s here!

To better assist you, I’d like to confirm the following:

  • What generation is your Home Mini (1st or 2nd gen)?

In the meantime, I’d suggest these steps:

If these steps don't work, consider performing a factory reset on the Home Mini. You can check out this article: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.

After the factory reset, set up your Home Mini again and customize the alarm settings through the Google Home app. For reference, you can see these articles: Create and manage Routines for Google Home automations and Set up your Google Nest or Home speaker or display.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
