Home minis Gen 1 will not play Spotify when paired together

I have 2 home minis that function perfectly separately but as soon as I pair them in Google Home to create a stereo pair they will not play music (Spotify). They perform all other functions as a pair perfectly but when I ask to play music they just say ‘playing music on bedroom pair’, then a few seconds later ‘something went wrong, try again later’. I unpair & back to playing music fine  I have factory reset a number of times but no fix

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your two paired Google Home Minis 1st generation aren't playing Spotify. Help's here!

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

• Reboot your devices: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches. Follow these steps to Reboot Google Home Mini 1st Gen.
• Update software: Make sure your Google Home app and the software on your Home Minis are up to date. 
• Unlink and relink Spotify: Unlink your Spotify account from your Google Home and then relink it. Follow these steps to Link your music services.
