Home speakers not understanding questions about timers

Ausieking

When I ask my nest minis or my mesh wifi point “how much longer is there on that timer” it responds with “sorry, I didn’t understand” I have no problem with starting or cancelling a timer yet. The devices have been reset but the issue still persists. This issue only started today but is one of the most used features in my household. My google devices constantly having issues is starting to outweigh their benefits. 😕

Until things are fixed it's probably a good thing. I know in the moment it doesn't seem so, but as a person who hasn't had the ability to use Google Assistant in over 3 years, I have been there! It will get better...promise.

Hi @Ausieking!

Thanks for posting in the community.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with Google speakers and the timers. I understand that you have no issues setting up or canceling the timer, but when you ask the speaker about how much time left, the speakers say that they are not able to understand the instruction. No worries, help is here.

As I understand that you have already tried resetting your devices but the issue persists, then I will suggest you try using a different voice command. You can say, “Hey Google, how much time is left?”.

You can check the following article for further information: Set and manage timers and sleep timers on your Google Nest speaker or display

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Tried this and it still doesn’t work

Hi @Ausieking!

Thanks for letting us know. We apologize that the issue is still persisting

Let's try the following:

  • Reboot the Google Home
    • Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Select the speaker or display Settings.
    • At the top right, tap More > Reboot.
  • Confirm if Google Home recognized the question or command correctly
  • Factory reset the device. Learn How to Factory reset your Google device.

Keep me updated and we will find a resolution together.

Regards,

Catheryn.

As per my original post I did everything except for a factory reset but before I could do a factory reset the devices seem to have fixed themselves.
