I have a Nest that isn't part of any room. I'm trying to simply add it to a new room, but the only way to create new rooms is during the setup of a device. I've already read through this aritcle: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9159862?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccreate-and-manage-rooms
It does not address my issue because
1) it tells you how to configure the rooms while setting up a new nest-- but my nest is not new and it's already in the Google home app.
2) the section on creating a new room is either out of date or dosen't work for what I'm trying to do.
The instructions in that section say:
Create a new room
- Open the Google Home app
.
- At the top, select the home you want to add a room to.
- At the top right, tap your account.
- Tap Assistant settings
Home control.
- Tap any of your devices
Room.
- Note: The device you choose will be removed from its current room and added to the new one. You can move the device back to the first room after the new room is created.
- Scroll and tap Add new room
enter a room name
Ok.
But when I get to Home Control to select my Google nest/mini, it's not there. It only displays 3rd party smart devices, and those aren't the ones I'm trying to move.
I honestly can't find any proper controls for my nest/mini anywhere in the app. Clicking the settings icon while viewing the nest/mini just gives me trebble/bass settings. Nothing related to which room it's in, what it's called, or who's allowed to control it. Very frustrating design!
