How do I ask Google assistant to play a different version of the same song?

Suppose I ask Google Assistant to play a song, eg: Ba ba black sheep sung by a Singer A and I did not like that. In a single command, how can I ask Google to play the same song song by someone else ? If I say "Next", it plays some other song. I want the same song itself, sung by someone else. Is there a command to do this ?

Hey vinodtr,

Thanks for reaching out — let's check this out.

What's your default music provider? Do you have a premium subscription? If you have a premium account, you'll hear specific songs/albums/artists while a free one will only give you music inspired by the song/album/artist. You can use this command "OK google, Play <song name> by <artist name>,". Check this link for more information.

Alex

Thanks for checking back. The requirement is similar, but a bit specific. What I need the assistant to do is to play the same song sung by someone else, where I do not know the artist's name. This requirement came about when I play nursery rhymes/songs for my 4 month old son. I have no clue who all have sung "Old Mcdonald". So I issue my command, "Hey google, play Old Macdonald". If I dont like that particular version, I want to move on to a different version of the same song. I dont care who the artist is or rather I dont know who the artist is.

Hi vinodtr,

We understand. However, to play music on the Google Home devices, you need to be specific with your request so that you can hear the music you wanted. If you're using a free account, it will provide you with a random song or artist.

I have a YouTube premium account subscription. It plays a random artist for the first time. That's what I needed for my 2nd command as well. I get a sense noone but me has this requirement :d

Hey vinodtr,

We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you, is it happening to all songs or artists that you've requested? Try requesting an artist instead of the title of the song.

Alex
