How to Use Google Nest Hub to Control Alight Motion Projects via Voice Commands?

Hello everyone!

I’ve been a huge fan of Google Nest products for a while now, especially my Google Nest Hub, which I use daily for everything from controlling smart home devices to checking the weather. Recently, I’ve started experimenting with video editing using the Alight Motion app on my phone, and I was wondering if there’s a way to integrate the two.

Here are a few questions I have:

  1. Is it possible to use voice commands with Google Nest Hub to control playback or preview of my Alight Motion projects? For example, can I ask Google to play a specific project or pause it while I'm working on edits?

  2. Has anyone here managed to set up a workflow where they can use Google Nest to launch the Alight Motion app on their phone or tablet? If so, how did you set it up, and what voice commands are you using?

  3. What are some creative ways you’re using Google Nest products to enhance your video editing or creative workflows? I’d love to hear how other people are using their Google Nest devices beyond just smart home control.

I think combining the convenience of voice control with the creative power of Alight Motion could be a game-changer for my workflow, especially when my hands are full with other equipment.

Any tips, tricks, or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello @Shumail,

Thanks for posting in the community.
I know how important Alight Motion is for you; thanks for the information.
While Google Nest Hub and Alight Motion are fantastic tools in their own right, a direct integration between them might be limited due to their specific functionalities and platforms. However, there are some potential workarounds you could explore:

  • Create Applets: Create applets that trigger actions in Alight Motion based on voice commands through Google Assistant. For example, you could create an applet to pause or resume a project when you say, "Hey Google, pause Alight Motion."
  • Third-Party Apps: Explore third-party apps that can control your phone remotely from your Google Nest Hub. This might allow you to control Alight Motion indirectly.
  • Alternative Options: Consider exploring other video editing software that offers more extensive voice control integration. Some professional video editing software might have this feature.

Creative Uses of Google Nest with Video Editing:

  1. Smart Home Automation: Use Google Nest to control lighting, temperature, or other environmental factors while working on your projects.
  2. Voice-Controlled Music: Play music or sound effects using your Nest Hub to enhance your video editing experience.
  3. Smart Home Security: Monitor your home with Nest cameras while working on your projects.

While a direct integration between Google Nest Hub and Alight Motion might not be available, these workarounds could provide some level of control and convenience. I encourage you to experiment with different approaches and explore the possibilities offered by these powerful tools. You can also provide feedback to get these features in a future update; you can send it through the Google Home app or through this link: feedback form

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

All the best,

Jorge
