How to control volume in speaker groups.

2 groups.

  1. Kitchen Pair.  This has 2 mini's in it in the kitchen
  2. First floor: same 2 mini's as one above, plus a Sony Google TV soundbar.

I can say "Play music on First floor", and all three speakers play.

I can say "Play music on Kitchen Pair" and they play.

But, in neither case can I control the volume as a group.  If the soundbar is at 30% when it starts up and the Kitchen Pair is at 10% I cannot tell First Floor to all play at say 20%.  I can do it for each device individually, but not as a group.

I can control each on individually via the app, but not voice.

So, basically, having people over and need the volume to go up or down I need to get my phone (Pixel 6 Pro) and turn each device to another volume.

What am I missing here?

Hi Jimbolyya,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this situation with your speaker groups not changing the volume. I understand that you want to set your speaker groups at the same volume with the voice command. But don't worry, I can help. In this case, the recommendation will be to delete the existing speaker group and set it up again just to make sure that it works as expected.

Here is how to delete the speaker group:

  1. Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker, display, Chromecast, or Pixel Tablet.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Tap Settings > Devices, groups & rooms > Speaker groups.
  4. Select the group you want to delete.
  5. Tap Delete group > Remove or Delete.

Here is how to create the speaker group:

  1. Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker, display, Chromecast, or Pixel Tablet.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Tap Settings > Devices, groups & rooms > Speaker groups > Create a speaker group.
  4. Tap each device that you want to add to the group. A check will appear next to each selected device.
  5. Tap Next > enter a name for your group > tap Save.

After that, you can try the voice commands for the volume again. Please check the "Control speaker groups with voice commands.".

Please let me know if you have any questions during the process; I'll be happy to help.

Best regards,

Jenny
