How to play music on on Mini and Chromecast in one room with audio command

albeland

I have a grouped room of 2 speakers - 1 Mini and 1 Chromecast with in-ceiling speakers/amplifier.  When I give the verbal command to play music on this group, it won't work on the Chromecast.  If anyone has a solution, great!  If not, does anyone know the command to add music that is playing to a 2nd speaker while the first speaker is playing?  Something like, "Hey Google, also play this on my Bathroom Speaker".  Unfortunately, that example doesn't work so I'm hoping someone knows a command that will work.

I already created a group but Assistant responds “sorry, I’m not sure what you wanted to do”. That’s why I’m trying to play on both speakers simultaneously but together.

Hey albeland,

I am sorry to hear you are still having trouble with your speakers. I know this is not an ideal situation. I wanted to check in, as I may have found another article that could be of help. Please let me know if that does help, or if you are still having trouble playing on both speakers.

Best regards,

Jake

Thanks  but this article doesn’t help. I can instruct to play on my Mini. I can instruct to play on my Chromecast. I can’t play on my group; I get the response back listed above. That’s why I’m asking if there’s a way to play on one speaker and then request Assistant to play on an ADDITIONAL speaker.

Another way to think about my request looking at the help articles.  I don’t want to MOVE media from one cast to device to another, I want to ADD the media to a 2nd cast device.  Again, I do have a group set up (Mine + audio cast) but there is something about that group that Assistant doesn’t like and it replies “Sorry, I’m not sure what you want me to do” so it’s having some type of problem when it tries to start casting to both of them together.

Hey albeland,

I am sorry the article was not of any help. Do you mind me asking if you could follow the steps below, as this should allow you to cast to multiple devices at the same time. Please let me know if that helps, or if you are still seeing the error.

  1. On a Nest display, tap the active media card to bring up the media player.
  2. At the bottom left corner of the screen, tap the cast icon  to find a list of available devices.
  3. Tap the radio button to select a device in order to add. Media will begin playing on any device selected.

Best regards,

Jake

Jake, I appreciate you trying to help with this. I’m can’t exactly do the steps because I don’t have a Nest with touch display. I only have a Mini. I can do it on my iPhone and I CAN get both speakers to work (Mini & Audiocast). What I want is a verbal command to do that because I don’t always have my phone nearby.

Well, it’s still unresolved but I’m working with L2.  If that means closing the thread then that’s fine.
