How to use 3 seperate Spotify accounts on 3 Nest Minis.

Hi all,

Just need some help with an issue we have playing music. We have 3 Nest Minis in seperate rooms. We'd like to all be able to play different music from Spotify at the same time. But currently, if one person is listening to music and another person asks for a song, it turns the original speaker off. We have set up 3 seperate Spotify accounts, through 3 seperate Google accounts on 3 seperate android devices, but the problem continues to persist. The only way we have found around this at the moment is to have the 3 seperate devices (my phone, my partner's phone and a tablet) logged in to each Spotify/Google account and to manually choose which speaker to broadcast to while in Spotify. We have set up Voice Match to each account but say the owner of Nest Mini 1 asks for a song, it will be a guess which device it chooses to play from. So if the owner of Nest Mini 1 asks for a song it might use my account which is set up to be connected to Nest Mini 2 if that makes sense? So then when the user of Nest Mini 2 then asks for a song, it turns Nest Mini 1 off. I then have to open Spotify on my phone and tablet to manually select their speakers on each device. Which works fine until one of us isn't home then we're back to have one person turning off someone else's music by accident. I got these for the kids hoping to give them the freedom to listen to their own music in their rooms but all it's done is cause fights 😂. Please help! I've tried all the advice I've found online so far but no such luck.

Hi darcyhart,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your concern. You can add home members so they can link their accounts and enjoy music on your Google Nest Mini. See the steps below:

Invite members to a home

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. If you have more than one home, tap Favorites .
  3. At the top, select the home you want to edit.
  4. Tap Settings Settings icon and then Add Add and then Home member.
  5. Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home.
  6. Tap Next.
    • The person you invite should receive an email with instructions.
  7. Tap Next.
    • Review the person’s access to your home.
  8. Tap Send.
  9. If your Google Family Group isn’t full and the person you’re inviting isn’t already in one, you should get the option to invite them to your Google Family Group.
    • To invite them, tap Add to Family.
    • To skip this step, tap No Thanks.

The person you invite should receive an email with instructions.

Tips:

  • You can have up to 6 members in a Google Family Group.
  • If the person you want to invite has already requested to join your home, instead of sending a new invitation, you need to accept that request.

Regards,

Juni
