Hub from another room keeps responding

I had a 1st gen Hub in my kitchen for years and just replaced it with a Nest Hub 2nd. I put the 1st gen in my living room which is a room over from the kitchen. When we are in our kitchen and say Hey Google, the 1st gen hub in the living room responds most of the time. The new 2nd gen hub in the kitchen will have a pop up asking if that was the wrong device and I tell it yes every time. I also set the sensitivity to the one in the living room to the lowest setting and the one in the kitchen to the highest. I sit and work all day in my kitchen with the new 2nd gen Hub next to me just 3 feet away, and still the one in the living room that is 30 feet away from me with a wall and just a 3 foot doorway in-between responds. If I just whisper in the kitchen, then the new kitchen speaker will respond. Is this just how this is going to work from now on? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I never had this issue with the minis in another room.

Hi winterwolfes,

Thanks for bringing this up.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing this on your Google Nest speakers. Before we try some steps, a few things I'd like to ask-- does it happen even when you first set up the Google Nest speakers? Also, does it respond even when you say "Hey Google" instead of "Ok Google"?

Let's make sure that both device are linked on the same account and try to re-train your voice using the Home app. Here's the steps to do that:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. At the top right, tap your account.
  4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
  5. Tap Assistant settings and then Voice match. You'll find a list of devices that are using Voice Match.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Princess
