Hello Fawad Qasim,

Thank you for your message. Let's look into this issue together to find a solution so that your Google Home device can give you correct results. I would be more than happy to help. First, I have some questions:
  • Which Google Home device is this post in regard to? (model name, generation number)
  • How are you searching the artist name? Is this through a voice command?
  • Are you getting incorrect results when you do a verbal command? What happens when the device does not recognize the artist's name?
  • Have you tried commanding: "Hey Google, play [song title] by [artist]?" This is how I ask my Google Assistant and always get a correct result.
I look forward to your response, thanks.

I was having the same issue but let me answer your questions for my situation.

1. Google Home Mini (I think, it's been about a year and a half since I bought it)

2. Yes I use voice command

3. I am verbally requesting that a song of mine be played on spotify, and Google responds by playing the song title i asked for but by, normally, a more well known artist

I.e. "Hey Google, Play "Erase Me" by Clay-Lo"

"Ok, Playing "Erase Me" by Kid Kudi"

4. Yes I have tried (see above example) it just gives me incorrect results

If there is any other information you need from me lemme know

Apologies if this comes off as rude, as I do appreciate *any* response, but have you read the thread? There is no "troubleshooting" that can be done. The question is "how do we add an Artist's name to Google Home's search / speech recognition?" or "how does Google recognize an Artist name through speech commands on Google Home?"

For example: if I ask my Google Home to play "Paradise by Julapink" Home responds "Okay, playing Jewel" if I say to play "Paradise by the artist Julapink" it replies "Okay playing Paradise by the artist J-U-L-A-P-I-N-K" and it spells it out. This is better than no recognition at all, but how to we clean it up so it responds appropriately? 🙂

Thank you!

Robb

Hey RobbBer,

I am sorry for the frustrations and trouble. I understand that having your device not search the right song, or even respond incorrectly, is not ideal. I did find an article with some troubleshooting steps that may be of help. Since this issue has to do with the Google Assistant, I would also recommend posting to our Google Assistant page. You would be able to find further help there, on the issue. Please let me know if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake

I didn't know Google hired people who couldn't read. While I can respect that you are having difficulty understanding kindly do not pretend you are helping. You are making a fool of yourself, and a mockery of the company you "provide Support" for.

Good day,

Hi Jake,

I am sorry you are planning to abuse your power on this forum to close this conversation which still lacks an answer.

The question is "how do we add an Artist's name to Google Home's search / speech recognition?" or "how does Google recognize an Artist name through speech commands on Google Home?" and "how does a music artist / label submit their brand names to Google for recognition on speech through Home?"

Thank you for any help you can provide on this,

Best,

Robert
