Can I set up routines , so that it plays a specific video/ song or media on my Nest device.

when I trigger using a starter, the media starts playing on my phone by default. I want the media to play on the Nest Hub display.

Hey there,

That is a great idea and I imagine that would be something that is possible, I'm happy to look into this for you.

I was able to find this article about creating Routines and it may have the information that you're looking for in it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Hey there,

Sorry that this is still confusing for you. As you go through and create a new routine as stated in that article, it will ask you questions like, "When I say," "My Assistant should...", "And then play...".
After that, you can set a time and day that you want the routine, and then it will ask you to choose which speaker or device you want. That's where you can select the device you want it to be on.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Absolutely, I have questions.

You now have a full understanding of my situation.

My problem is that I can't find a way to "choose the speaker or device" on the routine.

Add Action : just says "Play Music" and allows me to choose Youtube , Soptify etc, but not the device.

Can you please advise me how to choose a device ? I am looking for a click-path.

Hey there,

  1. You need to set up Routines in the Google Home app. After that, they'll work wherever you've got Google Assistant installed.
  2. From the front screen of the app, open the Account tab (your avatar icon in the top right-hand corner), then choose Assistant Settings and Routines.
  3. Tap the blue + Add a routine button up top.
  4. Next, tap Add commands
  5. Next, Set a time and day as well as select the speaker you want.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards,

Garrett DS

I saw your respose, but it was a generic response to the question : how do you create a routine.

My question was very specific about being able to run a routine where it plays a media element on a specific device - in my case , my hallway display. By default, the routine is playing the media on the mobile device initiating the routine and not on my hallway display.
