Issue connecting LG TV to Google Nest

Jessicaleigh272

I am trying to connect my LG TV to my Google Nest. I have connected everything through the google home app, and I can get the TV to turn off and on and open Netflix with the Google Nest. When I ask it something like "Play Red Notice on Netflix on the TV", it replies back saying I need to let it know what device to use. When I give a similar command like "Play Taylor Swift on the Living Room Speaker" I have no issue.

On the Home App the TV is listed as a connected device, but on the Nest hub itself it has the TV listed as unlinked. I think this may have something to do with the issue?

Bumping up this concern because I have a similar issue with the LG TV (and a Samsung TV), only I have a Chromecast connected to my LG TV. I was able to specify which device I wanted to watch from (the Chromecast), calling it by the device name I gave it. In my case, the Nest gives a similar error message, then after a series of retries, it goes on to say "Sorry, I can't play Netflix on Android TV yet, try it on your remote." Chromecast supports Netflix, so I am just confused as to how Google Nest can't support Netflix on a smart TV even WITH a Chromecast.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home application and conducting a factory reset on the Google Nest, all to no avail and faced with the same error messages.

Hey there,
I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you're having with this set up, as I'm sure it's frustrating, but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Just wanted to double check to see if you were still needing help on this? If so, what troubleshooting steps have you tried?

I would suggest visiting our Google Assistant Forum and writing to them there as this is a question that they would be able to help answer.

Please let me know.

Best regards,
Garrett DS

Hi, I still haven't solved this unfortunately. All I have tried so far is restarting everything, and disconnecting/reconnecting the devices. I'm not sure what else to try.

Hi, I saw the response. I'm good for now, but to me it looks like Jessica's issue has more to do with the Nest Hub than Google Assistant. \cmiiw

She states, "On the [Google] Home App the TV is listed as a connected device, but on the Nest hub itself it has the TV listed as unlinked. I think this may have something to do with the issue?"
