Issues with Google home speakers and assistant

Bfalzon

Since a recent update last week. The Google assistant is having trouble with all basic commands even playing music. The Wi-Fi router is constantly having issues staying connected and the speakers are randomly not connecting to the internet. Yet the speaker next to it will be connected no problem.

Hi @Leafs64,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest community. I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your Google Home Speaker not connecting, but there's no need to worry; I'm happy to help you right now.

  • What type of Google Speaker do you have?
  • When did the issue first occur?
  • Are you trying to connect the Google Speaker to the 2.4 GHz or the 5 GHz network?
  • Have you done troubleshooting steps? If so, can you please list them?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

Hi @Leafs64,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the time you took to answer my questions and provide all this important information. I'm happy to continue assisting you.

I need to confirm a couple of things about your Google WiFi and your Google Speakers. Please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • Does your modem have an internet connection?
  • Does your Google WiFi have an internet connection?
  • Do you have Google WiFi points? If so, how many do you have?
  • Did you try to reset the two Google speakers and the Google Nest Hub?

Also, to determine which type of network you have, you need to contact your Internet Service Provider.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

I have 3 Google wifi points, one is located right next to Nest Hub. I checked wifi on my phone it it shows 5Gzh. What is best way to reset the Nest and Nest Audio? I did unplug all 3 for 30 seconds

Hi @Leafs64,

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the information you provided me. I'm glad to continue assisting you.

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have taken. If you want to reset to default settings your Nest Audio. Please follow the steps below:

  • On the back of your device, switch the mic off. The lights will turn orange.
  • Press and hold the center of the Nest Audio, near the top. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process.
  • Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.

Note: This process will remove all your device information.

Also, to confirm, when you say “Nest,” you are talking about your Google WiFi device? And what type of Google Nest WiFi do you have?

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Gabriela
